I want to add some subs in the back and i was told by someone that the BOSE system would not accommodate any other speakers since there are individual amps in each of the OEM speakers....I also heard that there is a converter u have to buy if u wanna put any external speakers (and that converter is like $300+)....the only thing is, i dont want to change my inside speakers, (for now) and i dont want to chang the STOCK HEADUNIT at all....IS THIS POSSIBLE?? was this guy Bullshittin me??

when it comes to speakers its all about powering and wiring (splicing)

Hey, I just put a 8" rockford with an 200watt amp in my trunk. make sure you have some way of controlling it! the guys who installed mine for me just spliced a feed in from the rear right 6x9. I have no way of controlling it. even with the bass turned all the way down, it is too much for for the other speakers. the only way it sounds balanced is with the whole system way loud, which is hard to live with. I have to turn the fader foward a little and the balance to the left. and I still loose my mids! now im looking for a whole new system cause this sub just pissed me off! now I have to spend $4,000 for a raised sub floor and all new separates!

Bullsh*t.

You can splice into the pre-amp level outputs from the factory deck to get a signal to power an external amp for a sub. You will need to grab them right before they enter the stock amp which is located in the trunk behind the wall by the jack.

There is only 1 amp in our car, not one on each speaker. Though you will likely have problems if you try and just change out the speakers while leaving the stock amp because the stock system is designed to run at a lower impedance than 'normal' car stereo systems.

You can acheive great sound with the stock deck if you choose too. Depending on how many amps you decided to add, you might end up needing a line booster similar to the AudioControl 4.1 I'm using.

Aftermarket decks looks like sh*t in our car anyway.

 

You should be able to adjust the GAIN on the amp to a more desirable level and then the BASS CONTROL on the deck should do a better job of controlling it...

Tapping the rear speakers is a shitty way to do this... you know you can get to the line level signal before it enters the stock amp and splice rca plugs onto the spliced wires and plug them into your amp for much better sound.
