Starting engine after 3 months of Winter Storage
Starting engine after 3 months of Winter Storage
When I purchased my 03 CL-S in late December 02, I drove it from the Dealer into a garage. I have 251 miles on the car and wondering if there's anything I should do when starting the car. You know, like let it idle for 10 minutes before moving it. Work the clutch and move through the gears. I want to make sure everything is lubed up before moving it. Any advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks!
It's a brand new engine .. so don't sweat anything -- and it seems like it was in a modestly climate controlled environment. Just start her up and give it a coupe minutes and drive off ..
my thoughts are this -- just drive off w/ it and don't look back ... nothing majorly wrong can come of this, even if there IS a perfect way to approach this situation.

Dont get it?
Why buy a car and store it? Why not just wait until now and get it? Prolly get a better deal as well.
It's just a glorified Honda, not like it's a Bentley or a Ferrari.
To each his own I guess, just wondering.

If I had a second beater I would've stored my CL in a garage. Driving around this past winter has put a lot of wear and tear on everything. And with the sanding they do here (and presumably in MA) I already have rust on a 16 month old car.
I'm not an expert, but if I didn't know better, I would start her up and let the engine temp get near normal operating temperature then drive off. Make sure you don't gun it in the get go. In fact you should break her in properly. Drive a good 1000-2000 miles before hitting VTEC.

I am very ding conscious no matter where I am. I hate parking lots!!! I thought this out before I parked my car in my parents two car garage. Check out the hanging ball. I told my parents to line their steering wheel to the hanging ball and stop when it hits the windsheild. This gave 2 feet of door clearance. Thread
