SSR GT3's!!!

After looking for rims for the last couple of months, I have decided on the SSR GT3's. I saw it in person today, and fell in love. It has the best of all worlds....it is 19", forged, 3 piece, and light as hell for a 19". I am getting it in 19 by 8.5, and maybe 19 by 9 in the back for the staggered look. Below is a picture of an E46 M3 with the SSR GT3's with a staggered look, so you guys can get an idea of what I am talking about. I am rolling my fenders to make them fit with no rubbing. I am also getting the Bridgestone Potenza S03's to accomidate them. I am planning on placing the order tomorrow. What do you guys think? Post any responses you wish.

By the way, I am also gonna be dropped on Tein Coilovers, so I hope I will be ok. But I can always adjust the coilovers to suit everything.....just letting you guys know...

I am actually in the process of bargaining, so I am hoping to get them for about $3400 with tires, install, mount & balance, and wheel locks. Yeah, the lip is one of my favorite things about them. My best friend just got a digi cam, so as soon as I get them on with the Tein Coilovers, Comtech Sways, Strut bar, ice box CAI, and the Alluminum kit.....I will take many pics.....Thanks a lot!

After I get my GT3s I'm going to try and sell my Moda's. They're 19" with Pirelli Pzero tires in 225/35/19. The tires and wheels only have a couple thousand miles on them. I haven't really set an asking price yet. So make me an offer and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks.

Who ya bargainin' with on those? I saw GT1's yesterday on an NSX (another story) and like you, fell in love. The only place I can find them is tirerack. Other ideas from board members would be great. Groupbuy?

That M3 is sweet!

Those wheels should definitely look great on a CL. I really like the SSR wheels.

Nice choice. My friend has 19's on his C32. I doubt you will have lip like that with your offset but still a very nice wheel!

What offset are you getting them in? Are you getting them custom made or something? Make sure they're going to fit with no problems. I love those wheels, but couldn't find them in 19" for the CL-S. I almost even went with them in 18" since I couldn't get the 19s. I was told that the highest offset the 19s come in was about +38. Good luck though. I'm going to be pissed off if you make the 19s fit with no rubbing though since I wanted to be the first one on here with 19" GT3s on a CL. Price-wise, I was quoted about $3,500 with Toyo FZ4s.

Thanks you guys for the reassurance, it just makes me even more confident that they will look awesome on my car. If all goes well with the offset, size, price, etc....then I should have them on my car by early next week, as well as the Tein Coilovers. I will post pics as soon as possible. I can't wait to get them on!

Those are definately some hot lookin wheels. I've liked the GT3s and GT1s for a while. Right now I'm set on getting 18" GT1s, I just wish I had the money to blow.

I went today to square off the deal, and ran into some bad news. As you said, the highest offset on the 19's was a 38+, and that is way to low for our cars. I could probably pull it off with a spacer, but as I have heard it isn't too safe. I also found out that they also don't physically make an 8.5" wide rim, so I am going to have to settle for a 18" by 8" setup all around. I am pretty pissed, but hey what are you gonna do?
I have found the pro's of getting this setup as opposed to the other 19" setup. 1st, there is the fact that the 18's are harder to bend and hurt. 2nd, I am able to lower my car more and tuck the rim into the wheel well. 3rd, I don't have to worry about rubbing. 4th, I will be happier with less problems because the fitment is perfect for my car, and I save money to use for other things! :P
So, I have come to my verdict, and thats what I am going to do. What do you guys think? All input is welcome. Thanks in advance!

wouldnt you rub even with a 19 x 8 wheel with a +38 offset? Also there is no way you would have that big of a lip like the M3. I could be wrong.. but when am i ever wrong?

What's the offset on the 18's?? Don't go 18's after you already have 19's man!! Hahaha. Stick with 19!! IMHO 19's are the way to go!!

I have no choice man! The 19's won't fit due to the low offset without a spacer, and there is no way in hell I am going to use a spacer! I would like to get a 19, but i'm not gonna take the risk with 19's and a spacer. Plus I REALLY want to get the SSR GT3's.....they are the tightest rims! It's all good though. I think I will be perfectly happy with all of the options that I will have with the 18's. I'll let you know how it goes.

Shane,

You do realize that spacers make the offset even lower. Adding a spacer pushes the wheel out even further.

Just to give you an idea, and yes this is a TL, but here is what 18x8 +50 offset looks like.

Sweet wheels. I actually bought the GT1's awhile ago in 17" because they were on sale, but they were too small for the car so I returned them.

The only thing with these wheels is that they are very open and they make our stock rotors look like absolute shit.

Really sucks that you couldn't get the 19s either, I was hoping you found some way to get them on. I'm sure they'll still look nice in 18" though. I almost ordered the 18s, but decided to just go with rims I originally wanted, 19" Axis Se7ens.

I guess I'll just leave the 19" GT3s for my future M3 or 330.

I believe the offset for the 18s is +49.

That's correct, the offset for the 18's is 49mm. What also sucks is that I have to get them in 8" wide too.....That seems a little narrow to me, but I will figure it it. They are definately nice rims, and I'm sure I won't regret getting them.

I just got my CL and want to get some AVS VS-5 rims. I was looking at getting the 18x8 with 45 offset. Would this cause any rubbing? Will i be able to drop it?

The higher the offset (+55) the close the wheel is to the car. This is weird cause it's counter intutive as u may think that with a + symbol, it means FARTHER away from the car. This is why we alway say get the highest offset possible as there is less likely a chance that u will rub. MOST rims in 18-19 come in a +45-49 if ur lucky.

If u put a 5mm spacer on a wheel that has a +39 offset alredy (WHICH WILL ALREADY RUB) u'll be making the offset +34 pushing the wheel further out

FYI

If u hav a conservative drop like a Comptech or H&R OE, should not be a problem. If u have an aggressve drop like Eibach Sporlines or coilovers that are set low, if u get tires that are 225/45/18, u MAY rub. Bobowah ha his car low and initially he rubbed, even with the rolling of fenders.

Ok I see, so I want a wheel with a higher offset. Is +45mm good enough? I saw a few people running 18x8 wheels with +42 and +45 offsets, but not Advans (AVS). I can't seem to find anyone with a CL running AVS wheels.
