SRT-4 info and timeslip

heres a thread to some more insteresting stats of the Dodge SRT-4......this thing is fucking insanely fast..take a look at the time slip.....14.107@99 thats STOCK with only 2500 miles on it!!!!

http://www.clubgp.com/forum/topic.as...7s+are+here%2E

also check out the car and driver test numbers, very impressive.

0-120 in 20.0 sec. thats 2.3 seconds faster than the track edition 350Z!!

0-60 in 5.6 sec!

say what you will about this dodge, but it will definately do high 13s stock with the right driver and will spank anything most everyone here has!!! give respect where respect is due!

Sounds like my 1987 Dodge Omni GLH-S has been re-born.
That car was HELL ON WHEELS and I do miss owning it.
Too bad they didn’t stick Shelby’s name on the NEON somewhere.
Cheap fukin speed at its best.

Unfortunately you have to be seen driving it when you’re not racing.
I had black Limo tint on mine to alleviate this problem.

It sure is a fast and cheap ($20k) car that I'm sure many folks will love. Just bring your asbestos suit if you call it a Neon on an srt4 forum. *grin*

its obviously a cheap econo-box, but its not HORRIBLE looking, and besides, people wont be seeing much of it but the back end when they get beat. come to think about it, there really arent many cars at all that will beat a 14.0 STOCK timeslip, not even alot of cars that claim to be fast....

g35 - nope
CL-S - nope
TL-S - nope
IS300 - nope
maxima - nope
altima - nope
GTP - nope
gs400 - nope
330Ci - nope
clk430 - nope

now obviously, none of these cars are on the same level as a 19k dodge econo-box...but as far as straightline speed, its domination cant be denied.....im sure though, you wont see any owners of any of the above mentioned cars lining up to buy a SRT-4...it would make a good fun car to beat the shit out of...

i wonder when the first chips are going to come out that upgrade the boost and what-not...those fuckers are going to be low 13 second cars in no time....even lower probably!

I still rather have the STI for a few grand more (yeah I know 10 more but still). The small econo-box speed monsters is getting interesting with the EVO, STI, SRT-4, and to a lesser degree the SVT focus, RSX-S and a few others.

what's the difference between that and buying an older civic, dropping a B18C, turbocharging the darn thing (even building up the motor) and it won't cost $19K + tax. It will make 500hp and kick the shit out of the SRT-4... i'd never buy that thing!

hell... a civic with a B18C or K-series motor will smoke the thing NA!!!

well said! and it would be reliable.

jim, i believe the gs430 has hit a 13.9 stock. i'm sure it could pull a 14.1

a stripped z28 doesnt cost much more than this neon(if u can find one still). i'd much rather buy that if i wanted to race and was buying a new car .

you start hacking up mid 90's civics with new motors, etc..it may be fast but you sure as hell get no warranty...and at the end of the day, youve already maxed it out....you buy this SRT-4, wait a few months for a chip to arrive, get some other typical bolt ons, and that fucker will be in the 12's no doubt...and youll have a warranty (well at least till you start using chips....not like it cant be taken out though, look at the audi guys with their chips and they just pop them out when they go to a dealer for service)

also, the likelyhood of finding a NEW Z28 or firebird is getting damn near impossible....but i do agree, if it were my 20k, id rather have a 2001-2002 z28 or SS camaro than a SRT-4.

how many times do people have to explain that this SRT-4 is not a NEON in any way, shape, or form......there is absolutely NO association between the SRT-4 and the neon....it was designed that way so that people like you couldnt say "oh its a neon" because it isnt.....

again, the point of this not discuss the looks or the platform the SRT-4 is based on...its to talk about the fact that the SRT-4 will smoke any of the cars that are supposedly fast (with exception of real sports cars like vettes, etc) and any CL-S, with the exception of the S/C or Turbo'ed one...talk all the shit you want, but get used to seeing the tail lights of it!!!

Jim, the car is a NEON plain and simple. It would be like saying a Cobra isn't a Mustang, EVO isn't a Lancer or a Spec V isn't a Sentra. No matter how you slice it the SRT-4 is a cheap but fast POS NEON.

:pfawk:

The pic is from www.srt4.net forums.

Also, SRT4 owners are getting the car insured at Neon rates... Seems like the insurance companies think it is a Neon as well. If you park an SRT4 next to a Neon, most people will probably only say "hey, that one has a big spoiler and a meaner looking front-end."

Don’t be too hard on him.
It’s a proven fact that driving a pickup truck lowers ones intelligence level quite a bit.
Not to mention he’s probably been hitting the Country Music pretty hard to “fit in” with his gun-toting buddies.

I have to agree, I'd buy a Civic put 10k in the motor and pull low 11s. Oh wait I did that. I still like the dodge. But what I refuse to do is buy a Lancer for 32k....thats too much

SRT4 owners aren't alone

Even Neon owners don't even want their car to be called a Neon:

14.1@99 is about what I ran on my first trip to the track. That car's definitely fast regardless of what brand it is. But 19k is a lil steep for the neon when cars like my Mustang GT go for 22k. I all for bang for the buck, but when it comes down to 3-4 grand why not get something more substantial. And thats not to say that all people in that price range should all buy pony cars...but c'mon... at least you get a rwd platform, beefy tires and a cool muscular sounding engine.

Alrite guys I need your help on this 1.

Say I get a 92-95 civic coupe and put a k20 (rsx-S) engine and tranny in there. How quick will I be 1/4 mile wise w/full interior? No crazy/outlandish numbers please lol

Eventually, i'll gut the interior a lil bit and do all that weight saving shit, but still
