SRS Light?

Any particular reason the SRS light would come on at -30C outside? Was on when I started up for work this morning, figure its weather related since its retarted cold out. Any thoughts?

i dont know about the second gens. but it has been a common problem for the SRS light to randomly come on in the first gens. there was a simple way to reset it using a paper clip and it has seemed to work for everyone. I did a search and found this, posted about second gens.

It is a yellow connector with two wires in it that is plugged into the fuse box, unplug it and pull it down. Once you have done that you can begin the process of erasing the memory. NOTE: This will only reset your SRS System if what caused it to trigger has been fixed, Ex: turning the ignition on with any SRS Plugs disconnected, such as pulling your seat out.

1st step in erasing the memory is to turn the ignition off and connect the SCS Service connector to the MES Plug,

2nd Turn Ignition on. SRS indicator light will come on for about 6 seconds then go off.

3rd Disconnect SCS service connector for MES connector within 4 seconds after SRS indicator light goes off. SRS indicator light will come on again.

4th Reconnect SCS service connector the MES connector within 4 seconds after SRS light comes on. SRS indicator light will go off.

5th Disconnect SCS service connector from MES connector within 4 seconds. SRS indicator light will indicate that memory is erased by blinking 2 times.

6th Turn ignition off, and wait 10 seconds. Start vehicle like normal and light should come on and go out like normal. You have reset your SRS light, congrats.

If it does not work the first time try it again, the timing has to be perfect. My first time it took me 3 attempts before it worked, but it did work.

I have the same problem with my 2001 CL-S at low temps until engine bay heats up. The problem relates to brake fluid level, moisture (frost / ice), and the sensor on fluid reservoir. Check the brake fluid level and remove any moisture like ice or frost on the reservoir cap. My

That could be it. Low temps is a mild understatement though lol. today is supposed to be about -43 with windchill.. just frickin rediculous.. should've stayed home.

Mine does it too. The SRS sensor in the passenger side seat is real sensitive
and cold can mess it up temporarily. If its really cold the VSA and ABS
lights come on too for the first couple kilometers, but as things warm up and
loosen up it all 'gets better'.

Nothing like sitting down on leather seats at -33 ... definitely wakes you up in the morning.

yeah I'm thinking of getting a remote starter installed. Dont we need some bypass device for the stock alarm that makes a remote starter more expensive?

Might be better than freezing you ass off though. Did the quick fix work? I had to take my CL back to the dealer twice for the SRS light issue. They never gave me a hard time about fixing it though.

To get a remote starter added in is inexpensive for the actual starter. But I've been lookin around recently, and the reaction that I get every time I go into a store to ask is, "Um, that's a complicated car to set up". Apparently, there are a whole bunch of extra parts that need to be included.

I was looking at Circuit City here in MN, they were the cheapest so far, and for a quality remote start, it was going to be about $300 US, even though the actual starter was on sale for about $70. Luckily I'm no paying for it

My SRS light came on today for the first time since I had my car. It's about -10F here with a windchill of -35. I just had the break fluid flushed and filled about 3 months ago, so that should be topped off nicely. Will it turn off eventually?

Shops around MN will either just not even try to install a remote starter on our cars...or the'll charge you up the ass...what is it about out cars that makes it so difficult to install a remote starter anyway?

Sorry, got my Brake light and SRS (supplemental restraint system) light confused in my brain. The problem has nothing to do with the brakes, but it does relate to the temperature. The seat sensor gets screwed up in cold weather until car interior heats up. Has to do with the leather and foam not being compliant in cold weather.
