Squeaking Windows Problem

When I roll my windows down, the window rubber on the outside that goes agains the window folds over and down into the window track. It makes an annoying squeaking sound. Anyone know how to fix this?

ugh, mine do both of these things...

sometimes it rattles and shakes, sometimes it doesnt. But it always squeaks...

I'd also appreciate any ideas to help, as the dealership didn't really do much...

Ya I have tinted windows, but the squeaking didn't start then. It actually started after the dealership removed my passenger door panel to fix the door lock actuator. But now both doors make the squeaking sound, so I'm not too sure.

I don't see how tinted could do it. I'm pretty sure mine squeaks because the rubber that rubs on the outside of the windows sticks to the windows and folds in and down into the door panel. Then it stays folded inside until I put the window back up. ???

I had a similar problem with my '94 Prelude VTEC. My driver's window was actually completely stuck in a partially open position. I spoke to the service representative, he said, "Just spray a little silicone spray in the rubber channels that guide the window". A very simple fix for a very common problem. Just turned 40K miles on the CLS, but I haven't heard any squealing yet. Hope that helps everyone!

I have never heard of silicon spray? When you "rubber channels that guide the window", do you mean the rubber that is touching the window if you look at it from the outside? What would this spray do? Where can I buy some (any hardware store??)

Re: Re: Re: Squeaking Windows Problem

My windows don't squeak but my drivers side window does rattle. Its like the glass is hitting something metal. It has been getting worse over the last 6 months. It only happens when I drive over the lane bumps on a freeway or sharp bumps on the streets. Anyone else had this problem? I figured I would just take it to the dealer when I had my alignment done and have them take a look at it.

No, I am refering to the guide channels on the sides of the window frame that guide the glass up & down. The spray would provide lubrication. One can buy it at any hardware store. WD-40 is a popular name brand, but any silicone spray will do.

oh Thanks...I didn't even realize what you meant by silicon spray. I know what WD-40 is. I'll try that...Come to think of it, what would be the easiest way to spray the channels and to get the whole thing?

Take the door panel off.

I am not sure what you mean? If you are looking for an easier way than rolling down the window and spraying the window channel with silicone spray, I can't help you.

WD-40 is petroleum based, actually. I think 3M has a silicone lubricant. You'll see it at any hardware store, probably about the same place you'd find the WD-40. Word of warning, you might need to clean your windows a few times to clean up any excess spray - a bit of that on your window streaks real bad...
