do you need them? no
will they improve your handling?yes
My cl has 71K and the factory shocks went bad at 60k so I replaced them with tokico adjustables.

It does handle a lot better.
If I were you I'd go all out and get the sway bars and bigger wheels to really improve your handling that's what I did.
But if you are just doing it for looks all you need are springs.

i would say yes based on my experience. I got Eibach pro-kit springs on my car with the factory shocks at around 7K miles, and at around 19K, there are shot! So now, i'm getting Tokico's this week.

which shock wears out first? I can't imagine it being the rear. I would highly recommend swapping the front as that is the most labor intensive spring/shock to replace. the rears are much easier to swap then the fronts.

If you get Comptech springs...aftermarket shocks aren't needed. If you get stiffer springs like Eibach and H&R...you'll need springs real soon. Think of it this way, the stiffer the spring, the sooner you need shocks.

Well if the car has 50k on it, then it might be beneficial to switch out the shocks. Shocks I do not believe are covered by warranty because they are subjected to normal wear clause.
