Springs: Eibach vs Comptech need input.

Not wanting to start or restart the great springs war, but I'm noticing a great difference in price for the Eibach and the Comptech springs. The Eibach Pro are 224 whereas the Comptechs are $300.00 is there that much more quality to the Comptechs? I know some of you swear by the Eibachs and there's also the Comptech corner. Can you give me some info regarding these two? I'm not even going to get into the Bilstein thing, unless they are a better value. What I'm looking for is a 1 to 1.5 inch drop, while not compromising the ride quality too much. I want to reduce the dip and tuck, as well as body-roll. (making my PDG that much more a sweet thang is only incidental )

I don't think you could go wrong either way. I think a lot of it is preference. Quality wise they are both great quality. The springs are both made of the high quality material. For the drop that you want you go with either one. Just remember the comptechs give more of a rake (front is lower than the back) and the eibach's give more of an even drop.

few companys acctually make springs i believe eibach is one aand s you know comtech has alot of stuff made for them to there specs which often time are more exacting than that company might have otherwise used....that said why dont i eat it up alittle more im looking at H&R's right now i like the sound of the O.E.sport drop but i have to talk to a tech monday cause theyre not really made for the cl but the TL and the weight and distribution is different.but i like the fact they use alittle more drop in front than rear i.e..75f/.50r for the oe's

As blxmjx correctly mentioned, its the rake, that aggressive stance, that caused me to grin uncontrollably immediately upon seeing my car on comptech springs. It's also the view out of the front windshield. Your view is more open and wider. I'm better able to judge the car's perimeter and so there's less a chance of "touching" something when in a tight space.

In years past, when certifiably dumb, I'd done lots of sense altering experimentation. So I could be in error on the following recollection but I think the springs, when I first saw them, were a light champagne gold color?

Which ever brand you choose, get the sways too.

Good Luck

In my opinion I would go with Comptech...The ride is good and the drop is perfect...What's a major plus is that if you get it installed by an Acura dealership with any Comptech parts then it will not void your warranty...not too sure about Eibach

I too like the Comptech for its rake effect. I had Eibach Pro-Kits before on my Lude Si and that was one of the best Springs that I had experienced. After three yrs of riding on Pro-Kits, my Prelude did not sag and the ride quality did not deteriorate.

Bottom line is both springs are great. One will lower more evenly than the other. Choose which ever one you like.

Based on what you guys have said I think the Eibachs are they way for me to go. I don't want the raked look. I'm looking for even drop all 'round. I'm not getting the sways because I won't be racing or canyon carving (what canyon I'm in TULSA, OK for pete's sake).

Thanks guys.

Wait a second SJ...
I thought the Comptechs give you and even drop at 1.25" and the eibachs give you 2.1" in front and 1.7". Thats what they say on their specs. Still planning to buy Comptech since I emailed them this question got that the drop would be 1.25" all the way around. Anyone out there that can disagree?

I have the Eibach Pro-Kit on my CL-S. The springs gave me a 2" drop in the back and about 1.7" in the back.

The Eibach's give you more of a "raked" look that the Comptech ones do. 1.5" drop all around just isn't enough for the CL-S.

Now hold on. I thought (or read) the Comptech's dropped 1-1.5 inches, but had a raked look, whereas the Eibachs had about the same drop with a level look. I saw the black S, and it looked level to me. Anyone got a pic of the Eibach Pro-Kit (the only one the speed shop will sell).

Because of the weight balance of the CL (68/32), there is a lot more weight on the front. So both the Comptech and Eibach will give a slightly raked look towards the front end. On the Comptech this difference seems much more evident than the Eibach. You can notice the difference from a picture of the Comptech, but you would have to walk up pretty close to my car with the Eibachs to notice the front end rake. Short of coilovers there doesn't seem to be a way to avoid this. But let me stress that from my experience the Eibach will give a NEARLY even drop. There is not a 1/2" difference between the front end and rear end of my car.

The eibach springs are actually made for the 98 and up accord v6. They fit the cl and tl though. The eibach springs drop the cl about 1/4 to 1/2 lower than the accord due to the increased weight of the cl. The ride is great with no sagging and tight on the turns.

The springs are not listed on their website, you have to call them for the model number.

I am not sure whether they are made specifically for the CL-S, but then again, what is. They work, they look good, and now i can fly into turns without the slightest worries.

Since comptech's springs are less of a drop, the comptech's don't elimate the body roll as much as the Eibach's.
