Spring install costs

i was just quoted $250 in labor (+ addtional 70 for allignment) for a Comptech spring install. Tech said 2.5 - 3 hours of work involved in spring install only. Does this sound reasonable? Based on some things others on the board have said, this sounds high to me.

it should be 2 hours of labor.

labor is typically $50-$75 an hour.

3 hours is a bit high, my mechanic freind who has never worked on a Honda/Acura car before was able to do mine in about 2 hours...and also, be weary of the alignment, in most cases, you wont even need an alignment, my car didnt need an alignment after the install and so he didnt waste his time with it.

I found that the cheapest places to go is a performance place. If they dont do the work on-site, they usually can refer a cheap shop. Thats what I did and was quoted up to 500 for just the springs installed. I ended up getting the springs and sways installed for 200

Yeah Mantis, what speed shop for $75 for all 4s.

I usually get all my cars done at Jotech for about $100-150 (depending on which car).

I wish I had a spring-compressor so I can do this stuff myself...

The name of the shop is NTENSE Motorsports. The guy's name is Alan. It is located in Dallas near Greenville & Forest Lane intersection. His number is 214-852-0977. He put in my Zeals, and I'm more than happy with the install. He stands behind everything he does, and if you have a problem with it, he won't charge you for adjustments.

Let me know if you decide to go with him, I'll let him know to look out for ya.

I like the Comptechs, 1.5 in front and 1.0 in back for a nice raked look, but no probs with driveways or speed bumps and no need for camber kits. The springs don't affect the ride much but new struts will make it firmer but handling goes way up. I'd suggest getting upgraded struts at the same time as springs to avoid dual labor. Good luck.
