lenjiay: Since you're in the LA area, the ultimate bargain is (was?) the hook-up that Oonowindo could get from Mac Car Motorsports ( maccar.com ) in Rosemead. His deal was that you could get H&R springs with installation for $200. Many places sell just the springs for more than that. I got my springs from that place (self-installed them though).

thanks for the info. how hard is it to install the springs myself? don't you have to realign your wheels?

Personally, I wouldn't even attempt the swap without first getting the service manual (aka the Helm manual). I know there are others on the board here (like Aaron) who can swap springs with their eyes closed but I wanted something to walk me through step by step since it was my first time doing springs. You'll need spring compressors, a torque wrench and a ratchet set (or better yet, air tools). If you don't have the tools, Pep Boys, AutoZone, etc all have tool loan programs where you can get them. I think there may be a "how to swap springs" section in the faq over on the TL board but it seems to be down at the moment. Since I didn't have air tools, the most time-consuming part was just wrenching down the spring compressors once the damper assemblies were removed. Getting the rear seat out was no fun either but still quite manageable. I did pay for an alignment afterwards (but with reasonable springs, all that will be adjusted is the toe-in on the front wheels).
