Spoiler Removal/Replacement

Hey everyone, I was thing about replacing my current spoiler with the M5 lip spoiler because the trunk will not stay up with it on. The car didn't come with a spoiler, that's how I purchased it. But if I was to remove it wouldn't it leave holes in the trunk where the screws went in? I would really like to replace it with the M5 lip...would that cover up the holes? Thanks for the help.

No it will not cover up the holes. If you want to remove the spoiler you will need to have the holes filled in and trunk lid repainted.

btw is that the oem or aftermarket. Looks aftermarket to me.

CL's with spoilers come with thicker trunk spring bars. If you want your trunk to stay up like the CL's that come with spoilers do, order them.

^ Yeah I looked into those once and they were pretty expensive, also I like the look of the M5 spoiler. I was searching google and came across this DIY...looks simple enough.

Here it is:http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/exter...ver-holes.html

(SKIPPING TO THE END OF THE DIY)

Doesn't look too shabby, eh?

Not shabby. Horrible, yes; but not shabby.

Looks aftermarket to me. The third brake light looks too low to be OEM.

lolll...I think it looks pretty good. Gives the car a unique aesthetic feel to it.

this guy here did the same thing, but with 'flatter' adhesive pads and well...you can't even tell that the screw holes were ever there.

It looks better in that picture, but I think the reflection of the white paint plays a big part.

To me it just seems like a ricey mod. When I removed my spoiler, I bought a whole new trunk, installed the proper trunk spring bars, and had it done professionally to meet oem specifications.

Taking the spoiler off and jamming in hardware store plugs just sounds trashy to me

I don't think buying a new trunk and repainting and professional installation constitutes the job here. Its just refilling a hole which costs a few bucks with ordinary equipment. Rather spend a few bucks than a few hundred because you won't really notice the difference. But hey, if you have the money go for it! But there is so much more you can do with the money saved. That job seems like no less than 500 bucks to me right now. New trunk, bought from the dealer I'm guessig, insallation and repainting.

Well, I guess people spend their money on different things for their cars. I would rather spend the money on my trunk then on say headers. You might be the opposite. I guess neither of us are wrong lol

I would never use bondo on a hood or trunk.

I was wondering which lip to get. The M5 lip comes in 3 different series I believe, E34, E39 and E69? I was thinking it is the E39 because I thought I had seen someone post it in another thread.

Here is the ebay link to the one I thinking of getting...tell me what you think

Part number 08F13-S0K-201R2 for the trunk springs.

Check online Acura parts websites. I suggest Tim or Kaleb (wholesalepartsguy).

Curry Acura says 27.30 shipped but they say its discontinued so maybe give them a call but I'm sure there are still some sets out there.
