Rotor replacement non slotted

Last time i did Rotoras slotted and they worked fine.
This time bucks are an issue, want to get the best i can for the money.
Napa, Autozone etc all have quite a variety.
Worth jumping up in price or just get the basic model?

Example Napa
Front rotors
$44.19 Altrom Ultra 8s
$45.49 Napa
$74.49 Napa Ultra Premium
$107.49 Altrom Mountain < this one is the same as the Rotora slotted price so forget it)

give Centric rotors a try. they have an "e-coating" that prevents rust/corrosion and an excellent surface finish. i have about 10k on mine and they have been great. good pricing from tirerack.com too!

I am on centric too with OEM pads, so far so good, I dont expect much, but decent price after I've seen expensive rotors warp also

Are your Rotoras beyond service limits for resurfacing?

I'll try to post the exact numbers. The two shops i went to did not tell me what they were, altho i saw them scribbled in the mechanics notes at the one place. The other place did let me walk up to the car and look but yeah, what are the stats.

FWIW Rotora told me the slotted ones i have of theirs are recommended to NOT be turned. The v "canyon" slot still has some canyon left in it but i would say only about 1/16th of an inch before the slots are completely even with the rest of the rotor.

If their are some kick ass deals on good ones I'll go slotted. I see where board vender Excelerate says in August "We don't have the ROTORA rotors any more but we do have STOPTECH drilled and slotted rotors and STOPTECH performance pads. They are better quality with a better internal structure and less costly.

Go to our website at http://store.excelerateperformance.com "

A buddy had me check out SummitRacing site and he says Bendix makes a good rotor http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BEN-145287/
Same site had Power Stop brand cross drilled and slotted http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PWR-JBR-923XL/
I know nothing of Power Stop.

Check rockauto too. They sell slotted and/or drilled rotors. There's also a 5% coupon code if you google it.

Personally, I'm running the cheapest set of rotors I can get at the part store. Most warp anyways so I'll get the cheap set and try to have they warranty against warpage. If not, I can always get them turned. Check advancedautoparts.com for cheap rotors. They have free shipping after 75 bucks and there's lots of coupons out there.

Honestly any decent stock rotor replacement will do just fine. As long as the fronts are correct vented as they are supposed to be.
Brembo blanks from tire rack work ok.
And you can turn rotora's. Mine have been turned once & new pads put on. They will not be turned a 2nd time however.

Not sayin I'm going to go with this but for any of us needing to watch bucks, wow check out these prices:

Car-Part dot com
Used, does nationwide wreckingyard search.
They have a boatload of used rotors and a grading system.
I was referred to this by a very trusty mechanic.
They have a grading system so theoretically you know what condition a part you are getting.
So far i am 1 for 1 in getting a very hard to find air tube for another Honda (not my Ac).

Front disk venting. They are the vents on the inside of the rotor that's used to cool the rotor.

no more like 8 months and that was with me treating them like a BBK, although they are deemed unwarpable. that's obviously never the case. lesson learned

yes they warped, but it was mainly my fault for beating the shit outta them and not having stellar pads. napa crap

this round I got slotted only and hawk pads and they are doing much better in conjunction with me not braking like a manic.

Civic do you write down everything I say or do you just live on this site which is why you simply forget nothing?...

well you have 13 posts A DAY... so we know you live on here... but the question is how do you write it all down..? must be tuff

I have a damn good memory, and there are a few people on here that say some outrageous things so I usually remember those individuals fairly well. I just find it funny you post about unwarp-able rotors that warp and an unbreakable transmission that broke.

Thanks everyone for the excellent input.

Went with StopTech slotted rotors and pads. Fronts only as the rear Rotoras still have about 30% pad and plenty of rotor left. Plus i found a place to turn slotteds locally so will do that when the rears come due.
Got em delivered for $250 by Group 5 in San Diegos website. Excelerate has very good deals too but i do the separate billing address and don't have the email verification by scan/fax set up.

Oh and here's a message:

"Sorry we couldn't get together civicdrivr"

If you end up going with brakes from advanced auto, there is a coupon you can find online for 40 dollars off 100. I believe the code is big40.
