Spilled Soda on the Key FOB....
Heh, the other night I had a plastic 20 oz. Coke bottle in a cargo pants pocket which also contained my keys. I guess my walking caused a buildup of pressure from the carbonated soda and soda started fizzing out of the top of the bottle. I didn't notice this for like 5 minutes when my pants felt wet!
Now my key fob button kinda stick a little when I press down! It has decreased in stickyness a little bit now, after some use, but is there a way to clean the coke syrup residue from within the key fob without damaging it? Thanks

Disclaimer - I've yet to try this, but it is my standard operating procedure for cleaning electronics. Be forewarned that if this messes up your FOB, it's your own fault.
This'll be easier if you can get the FOB open. Actually, i wouldn't even try it if you can't get it open - water will be a bitch to get out of a sealed FOB.
First, take out the battery. This is imparative - if you have juice running through the fob and it gets wet, you're screwed.
Next, soak it in soapy water (the water should be distilled/purified before being soaped up) for a few minutes. Work the buttons and whatnot; try to get all the gudge out of there.
Then, rinse it in distilled water. Make sure to get all of the soap off so as to reduce corrosion.
Dry liberally. A hair dryer might speed the process. You don't want it wet for very long - again, corrosion is bad.
You should be good to go. Just make sure the FOB is completely dry before putting the battery back in.

I think you'll be alright if you can get the fob open. Hell, if you can open it, you might even be able to separate the electronics from the buttons. I'd be willing to bet that the electrical stuff is mounted to the back half, and the buttons are on the front half. Hmm...

dont use soapy water use use a solvent like print kote or some super contact cleaner from fry's and use an old toothbrush to scrub the board. when electronics get wet fungus will grow and short curcit the board you can usually clean it with a solvent but if the fungus gets under chips on the board its usually to late.
ive washed a few pagers and cell phones in pants pockets, after cleaning its really hit or miss most of the time they work afterwards but sometimes they act kind of funny

I just finished cleaning the FOB. Once you take it apart, I put the battery half aside and took apart the other half. You pull out the electronic board, pull off the rubber contact cover (I cleaned that), and then took off the buttons (Also washed). I put it back together, and performs much better!
