Speeding Ticket Tonight
About 30 minutes ago got nabbed. It was a surprise to me. Everybody is out racing on the streets tonite, it was one of those nights. Accords, camaros, acuras, bmws, there's all out tonight. Nothing but racers and very, very few cops. Or so I thought.
63 in a 45. And I was clearly going faster than that! Sad part is it was my fault. The cops was right outside my place, where I live, no more than 300 yards from my front door!! So I left home and didn't see him of course and then after about a mile from home, I see a couple of cars whiz by in the other direction, so I did a U-turn to catch up and join the race and while I was catching up when I went right back by my place, right out in front; bam! K-band is sceaming on the V1...and I slammed on the brakes. Too late, I'm probably doing 35 and he's waiting to pull out behind me. He was completely blacked out and he obviously was only interested in the high-rollers (I never got a peep on those other cars that whizzed by...seems they got slowed down by a recent red light). There was nothing I could have done, but I'm usually pretty good at night and if I had been paying more attention, I think I would have seen the cop before he saw me. But 2-3 minutes away from home, you're not thinking yet. So much for my 2-3 nights per week, half-hour of street racing on 135th I'm used to. So much for OPP not ever being around running radar.....$119; that's not too bad. My typical speed on that road is 80 to 90 anyway; it could have been worse.

5:50pm-1 mile from the courtroom, obeyed all speed limits since leaving home 10 minutes ago.
5:56pm-arrive in court for 6pm appointment, judge is already talking to the other defendants (about 2 dozen)....
5:59pm-checked in with clerk, asked what I wanted to do, I said "can we work a deal?"
6:02pm-sent me to another room to check my driving record. No tickets in this city for the past 12 months.
6:05pm-offered me typical "double down" deal, I accepted. Back in the courtroom.
6:12pm-waited for judge to call me, I approached....pleaded No Contest to a parking ticket, non-moving violation, pay the fine today.
6:17pm-using a credit card, paid the Court $224 (original fine was $105 x 2 plus $14 court fees).
6:18pm-in my car in the courtroom parking lot.
6:21pm-on the freeway already over 95mph.
That's how quickly this was resolved. It is a racket. You can only do this once per year regardless. And that's per city, so tickets in other cities/states don't count. It might be a bit expensive but my insurance company wouldn't have liked my "19 over posted limit" ticket. BTW, I got a look at my original ticket and the officer had notes written all over the backside. I could specifically see "radar detector" on it....judge never read it.

Where is my super sauce?
Wow - you can plead down a 'speeding @ 19mph over' to a parking ticket!!??!!
You're right - what a racket. Pay the court the full fine of $224 and they'll 'forget about it'?!?!?
I'm flabbergasted.
to you!
I hope you used a Discover Card or an air miles card so that you get a bonus of your own with the deal

Glad for you "Double Down", sounds like Vegas. I've never heard of that, in Cali the racket is "Drivers School ", pay the fine, pay for the privilege of going to school

Funny, I didn't realize that you can plea a moving violation to a non-moving violation. I guess that anything is available for a price.
to me.
I've only got tickets in California years (decades!) ago. I did the traffic school scam.

not bad
dont ya just love that feeling to pleaing guilty to something u didnt do? especially when you're getting a deal too!
i got nabbed yesterday on my bike for what i thought was just me making a right turn on a "No turn on Red". but he came up to me and hit me with 43 in a 25 and failure to yield at a light. he gave me a warning for speeding and a failure to yield ticket (2 pts) but told me to go to court to "take care of it".
i gave him the whole "oh god, please officer, please dont gimme a ticket, i'll get my car taken away otherwise cuz of insurance!"
