so... yea....

this new performance shop opened in town, and i've been wanting to go by to check it out....anyways this gti was fucking with me and i passed by the shop on the road so i pulled off and stopped by.... me and the owner started talkin about possible mods to my CLS...and he said, screw a supercharger.....use nitrous....."only use it when you need it, a supercharger will constantly wear down the engine, but with nitrous you can turn it on and off only when you need it....i've used it on my 350 for the past 29000 miles, and no prob...." what do you guys think of this?? should i consider getting nitrous?.... i never even considered it....well?

I think it's fine as long as you know how much to use (50-75 shot, I wouldn't recommend more) and when to use it. The problem is that it becomes slightly addicting and it causes more potential problems than a supercharger in it's use, therefore using it too much can cause problems with your engine. I'd research nitrous and everything about it prior to considering using it.

Plus he's wrong about the supercharger constantly wearing down the motor. The SC has a vacume actuator that bypasses the blower when not in boost. It's possible to drive an SC car and not boost at all. Nitrous is good for full throttle power. A supercharger is good throughout the full powerband. Let's see you utilze nitrous carving through the hills.

hey vikas87 I'm from the same area where is this new performance shop? the only one i know that has a good rep is extreme customs. The CPR place in cola sucks. They just focus on domestics and old muscle although they have a dyno there which could be useful. I see a lot of CLs popping up now. A guy in my neighborhood just bought a white one and there is a guy at the chinese place rockin a dropped silver one. He's about the only one I've seen modded besides myself. Welcome to the forum man.

Iam running a 75 wet shot on my car with no problems, and probably making more power then a supercharger gives you, at fraction of the cost. Iam sure either way you go you will be happy. There is pros and cons to everything just figure out what is right for you.

vikas, you really should use more descriptive titles for your threads

By using titles like "so... yea...." (for a nitrous thread) and "what the hell?" (for a humming noise thread) you probably aren't going to get as many responses as you would if you summarized your post in the thread title....

SC>Nox

Yes, nitrous can be safely used and makes gobs of power, but can't compare with a SC setup. Nitrous is cheep to install, but costs money every time you hit the button, and is only good for quick blasts. Installing an SC is just like putting a bigger motor in your car.

<---- Runs a 125 shot, considering a 150 shot. I will never run my kit with anything below 100 octane (usually just run the car on pure toulene which is roughly 114 octane when using the kit)

Back in Cali, our local gas station had 100 octane on the pump, so it was easy for me to just swing by around 1am and run it that same night. Out here in Texas I don't have that priviledge, so I stock up on Toulene which you can find at any hardware store, it's paint thinner. But stick with the stuff that says PURE TOULENE. Works like a charm.
