Thumbs up So I broke down and bought these...

I'm going for the quad pipe look. I thought the OP of the QUAD pipe feeler thread got me hooked on it.

So 2 Magnaflows are in order.

MagnaFlow Muffler Street 14"x5"x8" Universal Fit 14815

I couldn't help it. My exhaust is too damn loud with deleted muffs. The new muffs will be going on the same time I'm getting my rear bumper fixed.

I also bought a ViS CF hood and Zex nitrous kit
I'm thinking of getting the ViS CF trunk lid as well. Never seen CF on a DEP so we'll see how it looks. I'm hoping it won't look too retarded. I'm not feeling the OEM wing and I don't want to take it off so I can look at ginormous holes everyday.

The nitrous will be going on after the engine work is done.

Tom

compliments and rants are welcome.

I might jump onto those too, I got the mid muffler cut out and it sounds like shit. Plus my skirt hides the current mufflers. WHat was the price on those? where did you get'em from?

Ebay my friends. It's practically the cheapest place to find car mods these days.

Type in Magnaflow muffler in the Ebay search query and you'll find them.

damn man. best advice i can give you is to take your time or you are just going to get bored. i used to do the whole "everything at once" but then i found myself spending even more money because i needed to mod the car.

I know...well what I do is I sit and wait...and lurk for days for good prices. I wait...then wait some more...

the engine conversion is going to be my biggest project so in the mean time I'm finding things that can accomodate my boredness.

Sweet! Should be interesting to see how the new mufflers sound. I agree that your current setup sounds too loud by listening to your video clips. The CF hood should look nice with DEP

You get your TL wheels on yet?

They have rubber, but just aren't on. lol...I'm lazy...Gosh they are so nice too. No curve rash or road rash. I almost want to frame one of the rims. Once the weather clears up I'll throw em on.

Will these muffs fit the oem bumper cut outs or will you have to do some customizing to the bumper cover?

Just from looking at them im sure some customization will have to be done. No biggy though. My bumper has been f'ed for a while so it'll look brand new afterwards.

i know but i was assuming when u said bumper work, meant that you bought a new bumper, so i was referring to the stock openings.

Gotcha...I'm just going to have the old bumper redone...some assclown before I bought the car either hit somebody in the parking lot or hit him...plus there are scratches all over it too.

That muffler is very popular in the 1st gen CL forum. I personally have the 14816 myself as does a few others. I wish I got the 14815 though, I made a mistake while ordering. The difference is that big so I'm cool with what I got, not worth it to switch now.

Interested in seeing what it looks like installed. I say a CL once with quads and it looked like crap, but it was because of the muffler. These look better.

Yo, I just got the same ones!

Nah, just playin, I got the 14829:

with a catalytic converter from carsounds too. Should I weld in a new resonator or use the OEM one, and should I just use 2" piping same as stock?

Is that flowmaster? And for resonator you may want to try no resonator, just go with straight through pipe. Depends on how loud you want it though. I know with the magnaflow muffler and no resonator it's not too loud at all

I always look forward to the threads you make. You're always up to something with the CL-P and it's almost always a sure thing when you get an idea.

Good luck on the upgrade. Please post pics when done!

Well for maximum backpressure for custom i went 2.5" to Twister racing muff, to 2.25" to OEM y-pipe, then opened back up for 2.25"

That's all before the RT high flow cat and Megan headers.

Good choice rondy, I love the stainless steel design. It won't rust!

With deleting the mid pipe its all up to you...depending on what kind of sound you're going for. I went for loud as possible, then down to kind of loud. Every custom design is going to result in a different sound. I noticed that Magnaflows street muffs have a 2.25" inlet, you're probably going to want to open up the axle back with custom 2.25" pipes.

are you running a RT hi-flo cat right now? if so, how long have you had it problem-free?

I already have the midmuffler cut out on the stock exhasut, but it sounds too raspy and loud. I'm looking to clean up the tone and have a deeper throatier sound. I think i'll end up using the Hi flow cat, into Stock piping all the way up to mufflers which have the 2.25 piping, maybe like you said, to the Y pipe. Only thing I need to get now is a new resonator, or just weld back the OEM one. Where can I find an afgtermarket resonator>??
