Sideairbag

i dont know if any of u have this problem too. When there is a passenger in my car.. the side air bag light is always on and off. especially on the freeway. i took it to the dealer.. they said there is sensor on the seat and detects that there is something on the seat....
so is this normal?

I think the light should only go on if the passenger is leaning up against the door.
The light signals that the bag is temporarily disabled.

yeah its normal the when the sensore feels a weird object like a briefcase or somethin the ligh will turn on just like if someone is leaning to much to one side the light will come on so the air bag wont deploy if u crash at the moment the light is on........cuz if u are leaning to much to one side the airbag may do more harm than good

it is true, there are infrared (i think) sensors that determine if the passenger is seated in a position where the sideairbag will cause more harm if deployed during an accident. it happens to me when my little sister sits there, since she is jittery, and small...

This is also the reason there is no heater in the back portion of the passenger seat.
The heating element would interfere with the sensors.
