Should I get the Tein SS instead of the Comptech Springs? (and how low?)
So, I have Comptech sways and Comptech springs sitting in my house right now, I'm waiting for my icebox and headers to arrive before I install everything together.
I was originally quoted $1000 for installation, but now the install is only going to cost me $650, so with the extra money I saved (and then some), I'm thinking of selling my Comptech springs and buying Tein SS Coilovers and the EDFC.
Will the Teins make that much of a difference, especially if I go with a drop similar to the Comptechs?
Another problem I'm having is how low should I go?? If I go too low, I'll need to buy a camber kit, which is an extra $350 that I'd rather not have to spend. How low can I possibly go without needing a camber kit? Also how low can I go, and still put 18x7.5 Volk TE37s on my car without rubbing (an upgrade I'm considering for the future)? I don't want the car to be dropped so low that I risk scraping up my car everytime I go over speedbumps (because I need to go over at least 3 of them at work everyday).. So I'm thinking something close to the Comptech springs would be nice.
How much extra do you think installation would be for the coilovers versus the springs? I figure it should be fairly close, since they're both a similar install with coilovers requiring a little bit of extra work (although I am not even close to a mechanic, so I'm probably totally off).
I also figure the EDFC is something nice, even though I can't adjust ride height, I can at least adjust ride quality on my own, so if I decide I don't like the harsh ride I can change it up.
Thanks for the help!

I would recommend coilovers. Especially if you want 18 or 19 inch rims so you can adjust the height. Also the ride quality with the Teins is like stock and performs so very nice! Installation cost for coilovers shouldn't be anymore and should actually be less because there is less work...more or less...involved. Talk to blxmjx for ordering. Also I got the upgraded springs for better performance...if you wait I'm about to post my review shortly.

peiqinglong,
With a 2.5"/2.0" drop did you need a camber kit? I definitely wouldn't be going lower than that, so if you were good w/o a camber kit, I think I should be fine.

EDFC = Electronic Dampening Force Controller. Its an electric motor which controls how hard or soft the Tein SS coilovers are. Under normal circumstances, changing it would require you to do the adjustment manually, and in the TL, it would require you to remove the back seat to get to it. With the EDFC, it can all be done from the driver's seat.
Best price I've gotten is $850 for the Tein SS and $330 for the EDFC from blxmjx. Probably gonna order them this weekend or early next week.

You could get the current EDFC and use it to adjust the backs - which some seem to think might be a bit more desireable than having to take out the back seat - but this unit would not/not be applicable to whatever TEIN does/does not come up with if they do/do not decide to come out with the CL specific EDFC application.
hey guys, im really interested in the teins also. i tried emailing blxmjx a couple days ago. i understand that people dont check their email daily, but im overly excited about getting these since ill be home in two weeks and putting my parts on my cls for the summer. especially 850 for the set. blxmjx, if u didnt receive my email, could u please inform me about getting a pair of teins. that would be greatly appreciated.

Found a guy who works for the dealership selling his Tein SS coilovers for $750! They're used, but he said he only had it on the car for about a month before he decided to sell the TL and get an NSX (If I had $90,000 to spare, I guess maybe I'd be getting an NSX instead too)
...
Should I have anything to worry about with buying used Teins? Since they've only been used for a month I figure it shouldn't be a big deal...
