Short Ram
Whats with all the noobs lately???? Dude this is seriously your first post?
I guess you missed all the INFO sticky threads staring you in the face. Ohh and the search button works too. You might have found out that short ram intakes don't do anything for this motor. Stuff like this has been beaten to death countless times.

Wow that's truly pathetic!! I guess he's never used a forum before! There's a search button for a reason. You click the button; it opens up a search bar; you type in what you're looking for and well what do you know............? There go your results! Sorry but I've been on forums for years and everytime somebody asks a stupid question like that it boils my blood! lol
Welcome to Azine "Coots"...that's just some tough luv mang, dont be hatin'...always remember that the search button is your new best friend...as for the sri, several companies make 'em, just need to figure out which one you wanna go with...peace
Wow now I can see why I don't come into the CL section anymore
A bunch of noobs calling others noobs
OP as far as I remember the only SRI made was for the regular CL, not the Type S. You don't want to waste your money on an SRI anyway. Get a CAI which will give you more power

Cold air intake is better for these motors, so I'd advise getting one of them. You can find them on Ebay and from several vendors here on the site. I personally went with a Ebay CAI, same performance for less price, but that's your call. Hope this helps.
The point of an aftermarket intake is to optimize colder more dense air to the engine. The stock airbox actually does this better than an SRI. The SRI draws air from the upper portion of the engine bay which is very hot. The SRI might look better and sound a little better than the stock box, but a stock box with a K&N drop in will net better gains. Your best option would be the Comptech CAI and second would be the AEM CAI if you are looking for gains

1. SRI has less restriction which is known as an "open element" intake and really the engine is getting more air than the more resticted stock unit.2Cold or hot, either way even if you do have a CAI you still wont have cold air coming into the intake when its 90+ outside.
2. "Cold" is a relative term. I realize that when its 90+ outside that us humans wouldn't consider that "cold". However considering that your engine bay will be about twice that temp your engine would rather have that colder air from outside than anything from inside the engine bay.
The sound always makes people think they have made some gain in power. The same thing happens with exhausts on our cars. The exhaust is good for maybe 1-2hp gain at the most, which is only visible on a dyno, your not going to feel it. The sound tricks your brain into thinking you are making more power

Much louder, deeper growl through Vtec and a slight deep hum on idle. Check out the "Acura CL-S Exhaust Sound" thread for pics and a sound clip.
BTW, you could have just easily typed in "Acura CL Short Ram Intake" in google or ebay and came up with that....
Click it.......see what happens.........explore your world.....

Some popular brands are AEM, Injen, Comptech. A short ram will generally give you more low end power, less high end, while a CAI will do just the opposite. The AEM V2 claims to have the best of both worlds, but are really nothing special. If buying an ebay intake, we recommend you get a k&n cone filter for sound quality and filter durability.
Here's the difference between CAI and SRI's.
Cold Air Intake (CAI)
PROS: Since its farther away from the engine it get colder air wich carries more oxygen thus creating bigger explosions in the engine thus giving more horse power.
CONS: Since its a longer pipe it takes longer for the air to get to the engine (less throttle response), since its closer to the ground there is a risk of getting water into the engine causing it to stop.
Neutral: Poorly designed CAIs can gain little, no, or even lose power.
**The cold air intake may have risks but they can be avoided by intaling a bypass valve which is designed to take in large volumes of air with a sudden thrust of the gas pedal and will safely level off and switch to your primary air filter as you coast on the highway. **
Short Ram Intake (SRI)
PROS: Smaller pipe so air response is faster, almost no chance of water getting into engine.
CONS: Since it is closer to the engine it heats up when the car is at a stop and delivers hot air with less oxygen molecules causing the HP to go down.
Neutral: Louder, deeper sound- pro to some, con to others
** Temperature difference is gone when the car is in motion, there is enough air flow to forceably scavange hot air out of the engine bay to be replaced by colder air. **
**However, SRIs with a well designed heat shield can lessen the issue of hot air.**
Note: At any rate, a "good" CAI vs a "good" SRI are practically equivalent when at speed.
Bottom Line:/Any intake is better than a stock intake because the internals of the after market intake is smoother and tested to perform better than stock. stock intake air boxes allow LESS air than moded intakes. MORE air = MORE power!

A tube is a tube. I would NEVER waste $200+ for an almuinum tube. As long as you use a K&N air filter (tested better airflow and filtration better than AEM, Injen, Comptech, etc.) on a $40 ebay intake, a tube is a tube.

and find a short ram....?
