shocks

im getting sick of the wheel gap, it makes the car look cheap. soooo, i wanna get comptech springs, but im poor and can't afford to do shocks. ill prolly wait till spring to do it, but i know the stock shocks can't handle the comptechs for long, so for future refereance how do you tell if shocks are worn out?

It starts with....

One bounce, and then another, and another, another...etc. Basically you know a pogo stick?? Basically that's what is going to more than likely happen if your shocks go.

Generall a shock is supposed to abosrb the first impact, and then it will gradually lessen the after affects of that impact. I might be completely wrong, but I believe that is the basic concept. So when you hit a bump, and you continue to bounce, and bounce, and bounce then it's time to get new shocks It may not be a bump but also uneven sections of the road, etc.

I've had my Comptech springs for 3 days now......and I can honestly say they are so similar to stock ride quality that I've forgotten the the car is lowered. The only slight difference is that the ride is a little firmer.

Wait till it settles in.

I know I know. people say comptech springs come settled from comptech but I had mine for over a year and it does NOT feel like stock.

Having sways doesn't help either.

When I first got my springs I felt the same as you and then about 6 months later I noticed squeeks here , squeeks there.

IMO, if u just want the looks just get the springs. but if u still want to mantain a good ride quality OPT out on the sways.

I don't know exactly how long, but probably not like the next week or anything. As for the squeeks

Do both

I have heard that the comptech springs were made to work with the existing the shocks. However, I have also heard to change shocks if changing springs. I opted to do both at the same time. Just get the Tokico non adjustables and find a used pair of comptech springs. that way you will only spend an extra $200 which you may have to spend in the future anyway to replace the stock shocks.

I am going to change my comptechs out for H&R Race springs because I still don't think the drop is enough for 17" rims. But I must say that to compare the stock ride with that of a stiffer sprung ride, I do feel that the springs don't feel like stock. But I've never had problems with squeaks, with nethier my sways or my springs. But with the new springs I decided that the stock sturts just weren't going to be able to hack it any more *no more bouncing please* so I also order 4 yellows from Tim at ACP. Should be here in about 4 more days
