About the "backup release" well that would pop open the door if the battery should die. But what if the doors were locked??? U would ovbiously have power door locks and u need power to unlock the doors. So then in a situation like that u would need to slim jim the doors, right? But what about those cops in NY that died from slim jiming people's cars that have side impact air bags. They would try to slim jim the doors and hit the impact sensor and deploy the side impact air bag, causing the slim jim to shoot through their skulls. But in a situation like this I don't know if there is enough power in a dead batter to cause the air bags to deploy. But I wouldn't take that chance.
So what would be a plan B

isnt it kind of dangerous to have a backup release under the car when you have shaved door handles? a thief/scoundrel/etc, would see a car w/ shaved door handles and assume there is a backup release under the car, and have easy access to the car, no?
