I agree, a little smoothing of the front bumper, and this baby will be perfect.

Can somebody give me pics of a stock CL front bumper?

I need a straight on front view and one from the side...the closer the better for detail.

That will help TREMENDOUSLY!...good 3/4 shop in there too...

Now, we need similar HIGH QUALITY shots of a CL with the Versus kit.

I'm trying to read thru the PS manual to get a better idea of what I can actually do...they have a 3-D filter, but I'm not sure how to use it yet...

I had some ideas last night about extending the urethane up to the mid bumper near the fog pillars...to sort of bring the lines down more like the SEMA kit. Would make the drop more perpendicular & less NOSE-HEAVY, etc. I'll do pics tonight.

Hey...feel free...I'm still learning myself.

The most skilled people have made some ugly kits, so maybe we're on the right track...

Also...and this is probably getting WAY ahead of ourselves...

I was thinking about an updated rear section with square exhaust cut-outs...but you'd have to buy new tips & get them welded on(no big deal...OBX sells cheap chrome tips in every shape & size imagineable). Just another thought...

I like your idea. It will make the kit flow alot better and give it less of that "add on disgusting lip" look. Can't wait to see your sketches tonight.

BTW glad I could help with the pics

Similiar to the SEMA kit, or the 04 TL. I would like that. but I think it would have to flow with the rear part of the kit, and look more chiseled .. less rounded. That would be cool because you could chop the CT exhaust, and have the sound, but a different appearance than every other CL on the road with CT exhaust.

PS - if you need HQ pics of the rear bumper, let me know, I have them too.

Those pics are perfect. If you guys want me to model an entire kit, then I will need close-ups of the stock sideskirts and rear bumper. Also, try to finalize the design of how you guys want it to look so that I can keep it consistent(looking like everything was designed together and not some kind of frankenstein creation).

The only problem I foresee is that I don't know how a company will be able to produce a kit from this 3D model. As I said before, XSI does not contain real-world measurements...only measuremental increments of 1 unit. Another problem is that I doubt the company producing the kit will have access to XSI. Once completed, I can render out still shots of it in 3D space or create an animation clip of it rotating in 3D space...but, once again, I don't know how the body kit company will be able to utilize it...except for using it as reference.

This is the same software package used for the Hulk movie to give you an idea about the possibilities/limitations of it.

I will begin modelling once everything is finalized. It shouldn't take me too long.

If anybody wants me to model the CL, I could do that as well. It wouldn't be a bad idea considering our plans.

*********this was my thinking exactly, make it a bit meatier, but maintain the shape...maybe angle it downward & lose the horizontal slots. But definitely a "chiseled look".

***********ALLEN- I don't think the sides need to be changed really, so yes, the flow will not be interupted. Actually, the current kit has angular features which are lost in the rear piece...so we actually may be helping the look, etc.

PS - if you need HQ pics of the rear bumper, let me know, I have them too.

**********Please post them also.

OK chris, I went outside today and snapped some pics that might help. Excuse the dirty car, too cold to clean it

BTW chris or Satin Slayer, feel free to use my car to PS the kit onto if you want. You can use any pics I posted, or any you find on my site: http://public.fotki.com/blader (Look in CL, LBI Pics, and Rims folders for good pics.)

I did some more last night, but I'm having a hellofa time getting the PS to do what I want. Downloaded some drafting software & fiddled around for a few hours, but I couldn't figure the crap out.

I think I'll stick to pen & paper ,,,then mail to Allen.

I dont like body kits! I loved the SEMA body kit! is is the only body kit I have ever seen for our cars that is respectful of the cars lines. I cant imagine why all these other crap kits are out an no one has produced the SEMA kit. Good work fellas. I hope to see this play out.

$$$...that's why.

To mold a kit costs money, to attach it to the car costs even more money, then you have to repaint the whole car...even more money.

That SEMA deal is one-off & probably cost $8 or $10K with the new paint & customization.

Anybody who's had their car keyed will tell you a repaint costs about $4K, and that's just a factory redo...no custom work.

If we can just re-design the front clip, we'll be on the right track.

Oh crap...I've been so busy with other stuff I forgot all about this. Are those sketches ready?

My schedule is opening up so I should have the next week or so to do this.

slightly off topic warning.

IF, this calls for a new front fascia, please consider fitting some actaully fogs in there. It would be ideal if you can find some aftermaket fog that has a similar stock shape to keep costs down, but if that doesn't work, there always the MDX fog.
