That was actually one of the reasons I decided on the S4. I can be at APR's door in two hours which makes it easier to work with.

Thanks Ramanan, Jennifer is actually excited about this purchase. She misses her BMW and this should fulfill her wants in a car to drive when not with the girls. It should also satisfy my desire for power.

It will take quite a bit to get the top end pull I enjoyed in the CL-S. 3rd and 4th gears pulled liked crazy. With just the APR chip, crank HP only goes up to about 320 but torque shoots up to over 380 lb/ft. That would put the wheel torque close to what I had with the SC/IC but traction will be available. I will be able to fully get on it in 1st, which the overall gearing in the S4 is most aggressive in 1st and 2nd, so it will actually feel much faster than the CL-S6 SC/IC. However, as speeds increase things will slow down unlike the CL-S was doing.

For driving in the mountains, this will be better as I can put the power down exiting a turn better. For highway pulls, the CL-S is far and away better. It is a trade off as I am sure I will miss many of the fine attributes of the CL-S6 SC/IC.

Initially I will just do basics like an exhaust and chip. But later I am planning on a full turbo upgrade. This should regain the top end pull I enjoyed while making the off the line launches nearly painful.

Just FYI, it turns out this car is just a few miles from my house and when I went an saw it I had my CL-S. The Santorin Blue Pearl on the S4 and the Aegean Blue Pearl on the CL-S are nearly identical. So I am not changing colors for the most part.

The interior of the S4 is black for the most part but has silver nappa leather, actually grey, seat and trim in the door. It also has the maple trim.

Very nice, Steve.

As if you needed much help, but there's at least one member here who knows a thing or two about modding Audis.

Nice Car

4doors will be a nice thing to have w/ the twins I'm sure.

I remember when our kids were small and we keep our 2Door Camaro way too long
early on. Pain in the rear.

Excellent choice Steve. S4's are beasts. A good friend of mine has one .. actually him and his dad have matching ones. His dad's has an APR chip. With just the APR chip, all else stock, I believe he passed the quarter in 12.8 or 12.9, I can't remember exactly. He just put one in his as well, the difference is amazing. I'm not sure exactly how hard the top end pull of your CLS was but I was downright amazed when he launched from a light and showed me what that 2.7L twin turbo six could do. I kinda wish I had bought one .. the handling is far better than the CLS and the torsen differentials are bulletproof .. I've heard the iron blocks can handle in the upwards of 800hp. And the brakes are huge

I'm sure you dont need it but my buddy eats, sleeps, and breathes S4's and audi in general, if you have any questions or anything like that on the path of upgrades I could definately put you in contact with him, let me know.

Goodluck with it!

BTW, I still have the CL-S although it is almost back to 100% stock except for the springs and sway. Only 23,500 miles on a 6MT which I might let go for as low as $21.5k.

So if anyone is in the market...

Nice choice!! A modded S4 will dust an M5. It's nice having the "Quattro Advantage" too. I'm sure you will make a fine addition to the Audi clan. Hope you still hang out here though.

Getting the RS4 turbos or even some porsche turbos is a great option to get even more power to those babies. You will have hella fun modding that car and there are so many options. Good Luck and enjoy. My only problem with the S4/A4 is the room but you've had a 328 so I imagine the room is not an issue for you. Other than that I love the S4s!

The room is fine up front. The rear seat are tight but adequate for short trips. The trunk is enormous for this size vehicle though.

If more is needed I can always hop in the Sienna XLE Limited. Then get someone else to drive while I watch a video or play a game.

In a box in the garage. They just need a little trimming and then test fitting. If I still have my car and I get the time, I will finish them and sent to someone for testing at the track.

Good luck with the S Steve. APR is teaming up with Stasis for suspension stuff so that is definitely the way to go in that department. A good suspension makes the heavy S feel somewhat nimble. As far as adding power goes, it's pretty easy in the S and I think you know what you are doing in that dept anyways. Feel free to PM or email me and I can share what I know of the tuner market with you.

You can also see in one of the pictures the new addition I picked up yesterday.

It is such a difference in driving these two vehicles. As was with going between the E46 328i we previously had and the CL-S6, the clutch engagement is much higher in the German machines. It takes a bit to get use to the difference.

As for power in this currently stock S4, great low and mid range torque. But power falls off at the higher revs unlike the CL-S6. The torque will be appreciated in day to day driving but I will miss the top end pull of the CL-S6. But that torque coupled with the AWD makes for great acceleration in 1st gear. I can't imagine what it will be like with 100 lb/ft more.

I'll comment more on the differences once I have more seat time. I also need to snap some pictures as well.

I felt the same thing in my friends S4 but thats because the car runs such low boost stock .. I'm just going on memory on this one but I believe my friend said stock it runs roughly 8psi and after the chip its more like 15 psi .. really livens up that top end. the acceleration is mind boggling but becareful on that lanch .. launching the car before and after the chip is quite different. Before, he could launch the car off the line really hard .. after, with sticky tires, launching the way he used to, the clutch would just smoke too much power and grip to launch like it launched stock
