Seat Heater Out-Question

I am out of warranty at 57,000 miles and the passenger seat heater just went out. I checked the fuse and under the seat to make sure everything is plugged in. I called the dealer, they want around $400 to replace the element in the seat. Does anyone have any experience with this that could offer suggestions on things to check? Not sure $400 is worth it because my seat still works. It just sucks that it broke.

order the part from the dealer and try to install it yourself.

Somebody listed an OEM place to get parts that are a lot cheaper than the dealer..

those fukers should do it for free, both of my driver and passenger seat heaters had gone bad, luckily I was still under warranty. what makes it worse, is that this is a common problem, I keep seeing many posts on both TL and CL websites about those problems.

I just had my car in, the back of my driver seat stopped heating up, so they said it will be replaced under warranty. I am waiting for the call back to take it to them for the work.

hi you should find someone with a cl still under warranty that lives around you, and you could swap seats and have the one with the warranty get the seat fix and maybe spot the person like $100 dollars and both of you guys would be happy and get the seat fixed for free

I agree that it is a common problem. Nice idea on swapping seats with someone still under warranty! No car is perfect but stuff breaking like this makes me wonder what part will fail next.

Only common problem if you use it. I used my drivers heater maybe 2 times last year. I have no need for heated seats in FL. The passanger has never been on.

U should ask ur dealership to good will these parts most reputable acura dealerships will goodwill the part and instalation if not u should call acura and they will usually split the cost with u. First try to get them to goodwill the parts.

the lower driver heater went out on my tl-s and they told me they had to send the cushion out to an ulphostery shop to undo/redo the leather. not sure if you want to do it yourself for this reason and it just means more $$$ anyways. if i had to, I would try the swap idea though... maybe you can consider buying the extended warranty now because you're already half way there.

Nobody around me still has warranty anyway. The part shouldn't fail so early anyway-so I wouldn't feel bad switching seats.

Went to the dealer today. Good news is the dealer ordered the element free of charge and will replace. Bad news is after telling me this the proceed to tell me that I need to have my ECU replaced per a recall for cars that have had tranny's replaced prior to 2003 and they have ordered that part also for my "convenience". When I go back to have the seat heater fixed I am going to tell the to keep the new ECU. I have too much in the car to risk slowing it down. Overall though excellent service considering I am out of warranty by 7,000 miles!
