seat comfort

I have test driven a few 1998-1999 Acura CLs and would like to purchase one, but I find my lower-middle back begins to ache fairly quickly, right about where the lumbar support is. I fiddled around with the seat adjustments to no improvement. I found Accord seats the same effect. In Solara I was very comfortable. Am I just not built for Honda-type seats? Is there something I can do to make them comfortable for me? I read someone suggested thick sheepskin. Anything else?

There no 1998 and 1999 Acura CLS. Try the seats in a 2001 CLS, they are very comfortable. I have spent many hours in them without any problems. Good luck.

The seats in the '01 CL-S have got to be the most comfortable seats I've sat on. Everyone who rides in the car always mentions how comfortable the seats are. The lumbar support does wonders for long trips. That's another point...You really want to see how the seats hold up on, say, a two hour ride versus a 15 minute test drive.

Gotta agree wholeheartedly on this one! The seats are one of the many things that seem to "grow" on you the longer you own the car.

Yes, let me clarify: I refer to CL's, not CLS, in my question about seat comfort. Thx for the feedback so far.

seat discomfort

the CLS and CLP seats are the worst seats I have ever sat in. I'm 5'9" and 155 lbs. The bottom of the seat is way to short, narrow and lumpy. It is like I am sitting on a bench with just my but on a to soft and short and narrow cusion. Also the back is way to narrow and tight and I am slender. They really blew it and I made a mistake buying this car although everything else about it is good.

I had a 97 Accord and it had lumbar adjustment on the right side of the back support portion of the seat. I would imagine that the CL would have the same feature. I thought they were pretty comfortable. As far as the 2001+ CL seats....they are some of the most comfortable I've sat in!

WTF? IT's sooo comfortable

I'm 5'11" and 175 and I think the seats are money. It's all about the 8 way control and you've got to find your fit. I tilt my seat slightly up in front so it reclines a little but have my seat back pretty much at 90 degrees to the seat so the entire seat is slightly tilted back. and the seat is lowered completely except for the slight tilt in the front. try that, it works for me. and the lumbar support is awesome. I also like how the middle seat is softer than the leg part so I feel craddled and my ass never feels tired or circulation cut off on long drives like in other cars. only other car seats that i liked was the bmw w/ sport extension seats and the volvo station wagon XC with it's bench like seats.

Buy the older CL and then purchase someone's CLS seats from the blackmarket. I know I've seen some floating around.

And for anyone who thinks the CLS's seats are uncomfortable---

it's your body, not the seats.
