Seat Belt schematic

Anyone have a schematic (or know-how) to take apart the interior framing to get to the front passenger seat belt?

that belt is twisted beyond all hope, and I need to get in there to fix it...right now it binds when being used, and does not retract correctly....

They also will not give me info about how to get to the belt retraction apparatus...they feel I might try to take it out, and they do not want any of those legal ramifications...

When I get home in an hour, I'll post the directions from the Helms manual.

I thought there are Federal laws that provide lifetime warranty for safety items.

Time Period
This warranty continues for the useful life of the vehicle.

Warranty Coverage
Acura will repair or replace, at its option, any Acura seat belt component that fails to function properly during normal use. This includes all parts and labor charges.

This Warranty Does Not Cover:
Replacement of a properly functioning seat belt assembly strictly for cosmetic or comfort reasons.

Failure caused by abuse, alteration, accidental damage, misuse, or malfunction resulting from a collision.
Maybe the dealer thinks the problem is only cosmetic? Sounds like they should fix it to me. Maybe you have to show them the warranty book.

So needy

Its a bunch of clips. There is a screw under the cap in that little grab handle thing that needs to come out first though, also one at the bottom left corner in a recess. If you need the pic, let me know and I'll scan it.

I would call corporate and tell the that the dealer won't fix this when it's obviosuly a defect. At the very least I would ask for their reason in writing and talk to the service manager. You probbably need the whole unit to be replaced. There only possible justification for your dealer's lack of action is this phrase: "Warranty Does Not Cover:
Replacement of a properly functioning seat belt assembly strictly for cosmetic or comfort reasons." The key word is "strictly." If it affects safety at all, they must fix under this warranty. I would protest and get their reason in writing and make them say specifically stae in writing that the seatbelt system is functioning 100% in all areas of safety.

I would also tell both the dealer and Honda/Acura that you are filing a report with the NHTSA. Not that they'll care, but it'll let know that you're serious about this issue as it relates to safety.
