scheduled maintainance = BS

is there a reason why people actually go to the dealership to get these services done? (the 5k service, 15k service, etc) i mean ive owned my fair share of cars and i know alot of people who have as well and i dont know one person that goes and gets those services...as far as i know...and as far as im concerned, regular oil changes and the occasional check up is all you need...is there some kind of stipulation with the warranty that you have to get these expensive and in most cases, unnessesary services done? im picking up my CL-S on thursday from the dealer and i want to take great care of it, but im not going to waste my money...a close personal freind of mine is a mechanic for a Saturn dealership..now i know Saturn and Acura are worlds apart, but he has told me numerous times that all those scheduled sevices are just a way for the dealer to make money...

Most of it is BS. That's why when I go to the dealer I tell them specifically what I want them to do. Oil/filter change, rotate the tires, etc.

To each his own, but i'm happy with my dealer pricing and they treat me great. If i have ANY problems in the future i know i'll be well taken care of since i bought it there and it's been serviced there.

Let me tell you about Jeffy Lube, and other sh*t places that have no name: DO NOT GO THERE!!
I've posted a thread about my expirences with tire rotation, the fuking morons forgot to tighten up bolts, and my tire almost fell off.
I thought that simple job can be done anywhere, but I guess not, the stupid fuks can even mess-up oil change, they sometimes forget to tighten oil bolt, and your oil can run out!!

just because one mechanic at one place did that, doesn't mean you can generalize about every jiffy lube in the country.

I'd say if you know the mechanic, then it's fine... but I am done with random stops at Joe's Mama Auto Shops.
90% of all mechanics are morons and crooks... You got to know an honest and good mechanic...
