I would guess, too, that this will be a total. After having to replace both the HID inverter ($400) and a lense ($180) on my '01 CL-S, you would be looking at $1,160 right there, plus a couple of new bulbs at $120 each (or so), and that's $1,300 just for headlights. After frame, bumper, and hood repair, paint, etc., well, you know.

On the bright side, someone totalled by Maxima and I was able to get into the CL-S (which I love.... other than the cost of the damn headlight components ). So you might be able to get something you love even more.
Check out my post above you.

Honestly I would try to total it. I know there's the attraction factor & the mods, but it's over 100K miles, an 01, an CLP, is getting $6K worth of front end work from an accident.
I'm rather surprised insurance thinks it's worth that much because of model, year & miles. They are not mistaken it for a CLS are they?
You getting factory parts?

It's worth that much because of the area I'm in. Acuras are a high market item regardless of the miles. My adjuster told me if it was a Type-S then the net worth value of the car would go up nearly $4K. And yes, I'm getting all factory parts replaced. I should see the car within 14 days.

I'm really excited.

My girl got 17,900 for her 2002 CL-S with 83,000 miles on it when they told her it was totaled 2 weeks ago. So 11,000 isnt that unreasonable for a 2001 CL-p.

The way most insurance companies get the value from is;
1.) Look market value. (What a dealership sells the car for in a 50 mile radius)
2.) Using NADA or Redbook value.

So 11,000 is a very fair estimate for these cars, especially since there usually isnt alot to compare them against in on dealer lots in certain areas.

After they start taking the car apart there will be adjustments in supplemental damage.

I know your attached to the car however you will have a few grievances whenever you decide to sell the car. Front End damage will stray of many buyers in the future, not to mention you are already over 100k so your warranty is terminated.

The place that is doing the repair told me that they might find some more damage, but he told me he is certain that there's a good chance they won't find any.

I bought this car because I knew I was in it for the long haul. So that doesn't bother me at all.

Glad to hear you're getting your baby back. It's funny how everyone is all CL-S6 crazy and can't imagine anyone actually loving their CL-P or CL-S auto. Here's for the underdawgs!!!

don't mean to ruin this, but i find it funny for GM to say that he rear ended somebody because he wasn't paying attention of what was happeneing infront of him . Is it just me or is that not ironic as hell? lol

The sentence sounds horrible.

The guy in front of me wasn't paying attention to the traffic in front of him. He admitted to this when I asked him.

EDIT: Off the topic, my 03 inserts came in today.

If not that friday, then the following early week.

Once CleanCL tries and fits rear C-Pillar bar and rear strut bar, then those mods will be following on her.

Probably already know this, but keep an eye on your lights when they get replaced. Mine got stolen in January and I am now constantly having issues with one of them not coming on. Had it in a second time for them to fix it and it worked for 3 months...now bad again. Probably a loose connection or something, but I haven't found it yet.

The place I'm getting the work done seems pretty reputable. But I will get a background check, just to make sure.

Most of the parts are in. '03 headlights are still an option. I asked the guy I'm working with if he could match the grill and the '03 bumper garnishes to the body color. It is being worked on now. I should have my car back no later than December 6th!

-It is pushed back a couple of days because of thanksgiving and huge holiday shopping day after.

When I went down to the shop yesterday, the guy working on my car wants it done by that date. He was being really serious about it too. I'm hoping that doesnt happen to me.

Most shops are eager to get a car done and out of there. Sometimes there are priorities though. Also, parts are sometimes a problem.

I worked at a body shop awhile back and we had this brand new Subaru Outback that was trashed. It sat in the shop for nearly a year waiting on parts for some reason. I felt bad for the owner. Then again, their rental was paid for I guess.

I would definitely push for the '03 headlamps.
