Sad day.............might have to get an IS300

ok guys.......i appreciate the advice you have been giving me. however.......im not sure if i will be able to get the CL-S for the price i want (non-nav w/ spoiler, lease of $400 max.....trade in of $3700). i still might......but the IS is selling for thousands cheaper than the CL. it has nice potential......and i think it is nice looking. i hope some dealers will be willing to negociate with me on the CL. dont flame me please. this is not final.......only if i cant get a deal on a CL (less than $500 above invoice). id appreciate anything to make me feel better

I think your crazy thinking you cant get a CLS non-nav for less then $400.

Leases with $2k down are going for $349 non-nav right now.

But... what is the IS300 selling for? Shit... I'd get one for 26k as an extra car. 26k is what that car should cost.

I was looking at the is300 before I got my CL-S, and the price of the Lexus was the same if not more (especially with options) than the CL-S.

Good Luck.

Hmm.. well i just checked my dealers website... and i guess im wrong.

Lease rates must have gone up or something.

Their asking $439 for 39mo now.

For the longest time it was between $349-$389

I just noticed that the $429/mo includes the Navi.

$2,000 adds about $25-$50 to the price of the car... so your below $400 with that.

Plus you can haggle the price.

Lease something you can afford.
If your sweating over an extra $80 -$100 a month than maybe you should avoid the possible bad credit rating and other financial headaches. Obviously your still young and so you'll own many other cars. Why get balled up when you can afford something else.

Good luck and be smart

We talk alot of smack, but I think we'd all agree that you purchase something you like AND something you can afford. Don't ever work for a car! You'll own many a car and you have to crawl before you can walk. IS is a good car, specially 'cause they'll have a real six-speed manual this next iteration....

You should ABSOLUTELY be able to get that kind of payment. I've had 2 dealers offer to sell a car to me at $500 over invoice, and that's where they *started*.

Also, they're running up on the end of the model year, so many dealers have a few of these on their lots. I talked to Keyes and Cerritos, both in LA area, and both had CL-S with navi around $500 over invoice. With that much down, $400 a month is pretty do-able. Keep in mind that the navi doesn't residualize at all, so it depreciates fully over the lease. A non-nav will get you a much better lease rate, relative to selling price.

I think it is only going to have a 5 speed. I know from what I have read on the is forum that the prices are starting to come down a bit on the 2001 models and they have some new lease option. If I had a choose now, and I needed another 4 door in this price range,...TL all the way!

You should definatley be able to get it for under 400! I am paying 474/month for 42 months w/12k miles/year. I also have the navi and the spoiler and all of the extra wood trim. I looked all over the place on the internet and local dealers. Until I finally found a price that no dealer would touch, then I picked it up for a little bit more. That also may be because I went to Park Ave Acura But as far as non-navi and extras with some money down, it will defiantely be under 400! Good luck

Man, I dont know where you guys get your info but the invoice of the IS300 with the same options as CLs is $30,289 (Edmunds). The ClS invoice non-navi is 28,187.
Future CL, I think if you think you wont be able to afford a CL, then IS300 is out of reach as well.
The most important thing about negoating a lease is to negotiate a selling price, I would suggest invoice or just below, because CLs are not the hottest selling cars on the market now that the TLS is out. Let me know if you need more info, but you should be able to find plenty of info on Edmunds.

But this doesn't really matter. The fact is... Lexus is offering some sweet lease deals on the IS300. The fact that it's a more expensive car doesn't matter if Lexus is going to subsidize it's leases to increase market share. I don't know if you can get an IS cheaper than a CL right now or not... I haven't been looking. But I just wanted to point out that the invoice price of the cars doesn't really tell the whole story.

I was not aware of the special lease rates with lexus. If that is the case, then that is the way to go. The best lease deals are usually subsidized. However, if incentives do not exist on either vehicle then obviously leasing a CL will be cheaper.
What you mind posting the rates for the Lex?

I test drive both cars 3 times before I decided on the CL-S. The Lexus was not enough car for the money... No Autodimming mirrors??? I couldn't believe it! Only 215 Horsies??

Anyways, I'm sure I would have been happy with either car. The Lexus dealership (Lexus of Sacramento) was not willing to make any kind of deal at all since they are the only dealership within about 100 miles. I said "screw you" and I went out and bought the Acura, dollars above invoice.

Not sure what they are. Can't find them on is300.net (their search function sucks!)

I think they were below $400/mo with little down. Can't remember

dude, dont do it, u will be makin a grave mistake if u pass up gettin the cl-s for a IS300, i pay 479 for my cl-s and it has a spoiler but no navi and i dont have navi. i also have 15 thousand miles a year. i had to give them 1300 out of piocket but that included the 1st payment and bank fees and registration and stuff. it was actually 454 without taxes, so if u are puttin down over 3grand, u should be able to get the car for 400 a month if u dont get the navi and a spoiler, u can always get the spiler after market at www.acura-tl.com, tims parts page. dont bow your head to the people at lexus just cause it may be 20 bucks cheaper, its not as nice as a car and certainly not worth the money. the cl-s is the biggest bang for your buck, if u cant afford the cl-s, get a cl-p, its a little less, or get a tl, or tl-s, still a better car then the IS300.

well i guess it really depends on what im looking for in a car.....i mean there are things that each have over the other. and what the other guy said.......yes the CL is still a little cheaper price wise, lexus is putting down phat lease rates.....thus making it more affordable. the CL is more luxurious and more powerful, but there is more to a car than that. whatever decision i make, ill make sure im happy with. well see.......
