The s2000 sucks until it hits 6K rpms... and then its a blast. The CL can be made just as quick as the S2000, albeit you don't have the 'low' look and the handling. Go for it... as long as you are not a RWD fanatic!

I was having the same problems when car shopping back in August. S2000 is great if you don't need trunk space or you want to mod it up. It has much more potential as far as aftermarket parts goes than the CL Type S. I raced an S2000 two nights ago. Dead heat, I was completely equal with him all the way up to 70 or so mph from a stop. Then from a roll of about 40 it was eventil 105 when I started inching on him from 105-120.
When next summer rolls back around you're gonna miss the fact that you don't have a drop top though, and plus you'll regret it if you ever plan on wanting to buy any performance parts for it. S2000s have superchargers, turbo kit, all kinds of suspension setups from all different companies and every other part in between. For the occassional w/end racer that wants to actually track his car I'd say go for the s2000. If you buy a CLS expect that it has only two real mods, headers and comptech supercharger. And FWD is a real dissappointment sometimes. O and don't for get the 3500 some odd lbs that your car will now weigh and it'll handle like shit compared to your S2K.
P.S.: don't sell the s2k, nothing will ever be the same as revving a car up to RPMs like a motorcycle. SO FUN!

the CL is a great car...when i was shoppping I wanted a sports car too, but i needed some practicality, too. I am real happy with my decision. Go for it!! definately get the 6 speed ... increases the fun factor manyfold!!

The S2000 is one quick car, but its pretty difficult to drive the way it needs to be driven for good performance. I've driven one before and I've only witnessed what it can do on deserted roads with a lot of curves (every driver's dream road right?) but how often to you get to drive on those type of roads??
It has no torque a low rpms and needs to be driven above 6-7Gs rpms for any kind of good power.
