There are a couple of guys (who I wouldn't really call "car guys")at my work place that swear that the S2000 is a chick car. I told them yeah maybe the Del Sol but not the S2K. I think its a purely an enthusiast's car. They also say the 350 is a chick car. I think they don't have a clue. Just because they're small in size and are convertibles doesn't make them chick cars, although most "chick cars" are pretty small and convertible. Anyways below are lists I found of chick cars and guy cars. So can someone tell how anyone would think the S2000 could be on the chick's list?

the top 5 chick cars :[ie: what you, as a guy, should NOT be buying]

No way is a 350z or a S2000 a chicks car. To be honest I don't think I've even seen a chick driving either of those cars ever... it's always a guy.

As for your list... I guess it's subjective (although there are a few cars that will be chick cars forever, ie. VW Beetle), but I disagree with a few. Miata... stock, maybe... but I've seen some killer Miatas hopped up nicely and they were all guys driving them. Ask Jens... he has/had a Miata that could probably smoke every car on this board... no way that's a chick car. I also disagree with the Neon.... although not entirely. I think the Neon is a girls car.. but the SRT4, no way.

As for the guys car list.. I'll agree they're all guys vehicles, but I'll also agree that each one has it's own stereotype associated with it except the Viper... so like I said.. each list is subjective.

Actually in Frisco a lot of chicks drive the S2000. WE think about the performacebut the chicks thinks its a cute car..ugh

The only guy I have seen driving a 350z works at the same place as me and is gay. All of the 350's I see on the road are being driven by women. On the contrary, most of the g35's I've seen are driven by males. I love the S2K, it's my favorite car, but the only convertible in my opinion that doesn't look girly is a 427 cobra replica.

 

So there you have it.. the same car in two different locations can be driven by different genders. So your friends may have been observing it from your location.. so that makes this thread pointless

I think that in stock form they have some minor styling characteristis of a chick car but that they are not. They are driving enthus's cars. I would drive either one. Based solely on styling there are few cars I would pick over them. For performance It would be hard not to consider one of these two cars. I think these two cars would look better with a hot blond driving them with the top down than my big goofy ass.

cudnt agree more. when i was in HS, soo many girls had a Mustang Conv. half of them were GTs tho. never a manual, of course. hehe.

If a sportscar has an automatic in it, chances are, it's a chick car.

You can't get the S2000 with an auto tranny, so it's definitely a guys car.

 

I have a Jetta. Well, acutally 3. And a GTI 1.8T and 1.8L 83 RHD. Does that make me a "chick"?:P The day a "car" determines a persons sex, tell me. Last time I was at an AutoX, I saw a "chick's car" beat the shit out of a C5 and a Miata... holy crap guess what it was? A Beetle...

 

I have yet to see a girl driving an S2000. Have seen plenty of passengers but no drivers.

SL55 isn't a girls car. Neither is the SLR. Let's say any sports car <$50K that is an auto is a girls car.

The S2000 def isn't girly. A guy I know that has one drives his mom's X5 half the time tho, and she drives the S2000. Most peeps that really don't know what it is would call it a girls car b/c that's mostly who you see driving small roadsters like this.

About the cute thing - wtf is up with girls and cute shit? Girls are calling shit cute all the time. That car is cute, your car is cute, etc. Then they don't get why it pisses guys off.

 

Tons of girls have S2000's around here. But the 350z is mainly guy driven.

Reminds me of that line from the blues brothers movie "ELWOOD:" It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Blues Mobile or what?

I think 2Fast 2 Furious did the S2000 a great injustice by making a girl drive a riced out HOT PINK one. That's probably where the impression "it's a girls car" came from. The same girl was also drawing up plans for a 350Z, and you know how many people with no car knowledge saw this movie.....



And don't knock the Base V6 Mustang, my first car was a 94 auto. I've moved on, but hell, back then I took what I could get. It also had dual flowmasters and clear corners

i had a 95 Accord EX Coupe. 2.2 liter, 145 hp, it wouldve kept up with a 94 V6 automatic mustang. i didnt mod it. i knew it wasnt anything special.
