???-S, which would be a better choice?
I realize this is a CL forum, but I want all of your opinions. My brother has a TL-S and I freaking love that thing, only downside is its auto tranny. With that said I've been thinking of picking up a CL-S6 for a daily. I had a bunch of cars listed in the 20k and under catagorey but the only ones that seem like a smart choice are either a Loaded CL-S6 or RSX-S. Now with the CL-S6 I have all the pimp amenities, CD Changer, good sound system, Navi(if i can find one with it), heated leather seats, great V6 with loads of torque.
On the other hand, There's the RSX-S. A gokart like tin can that can zip around turns like no ones business. Small, peppy, well equipped. Not sure if its faster or as fast as the CL-S6, but its loooooads of fun.
Now being 18 and having to choose one of those 2 for a daily, what would you choose??

rsx type s is fun, but the cls is sporty and classy, its way more comfortable than a rsx... i think the type s pulls harder that a rsx type s... but its really up to you... depends on what your looking for...
are you looking for a fun car, or something that is classy/sporty/ and if you you get the 6 speed, then FUNNNNN

Of course I prefer the CLS. I've driven a loaner RSX was an automatic though. Fun little car, but nowhere as refined or loaded as the CLS. Now that the RSX is discontinued it joins the CLS as dropped Acura lines.
Someone I work with has a blue 03 RSX Type S, 6 speed, leather, 30k miles for sale in TX.

please i beg you man - dont treat yourself like a child or a girl(girls dont flame me but its a little chicky for me) ....get the cl-s.....since you want a 6-speed.....there is NO comparison....the CL will give you much more love - the rsx has a friggin roller type seat adjustment(that blew my mind when i saw it).....
although the rsx is a zippy little shit i believe the CL will destroy it..

/end rant.
RSX-S used would go for the same as a CL-S6. Also note that only wahy I would get a CL-S is if it was a 6spd, and those aren't that easy to come by unfortunately :-/. Thanks all for your posts.

The Integra sold very well for Acura, the RSX not as well. Acura wants to move their line more upscale, no racertoy cars anymore. Bot the Integra and RSX should have been Hondas.
No NSX, no Prelude, no RSX, no CLS, no S2000 in a year?. Seems like Honda is intent on killing most all their coupes. The Accord and Civic coupes is all there is now.

Anywho, guys keep in mind I am indeed 18 years old. While I am a luxury whore thanks to my parents (Dads's '05 LS430 and Moms '05 RX330), I love zippy sports cars. I understand the CL-S6 is on a class above the RSX-S but which would win on the track or autox is obvious...I just think its a shame to Autocross such a beautiful car like the CL-S6. Man this is going to be a tough decision. I guess its all going to come down to which I can find first as a Cert. Preowned...
Heres the kicker too, If I get an RSX its getting a JDM conversion. Doors, seats, wheel, spoiler, wheels, badging, carpet, etc. along with some basic power mods like I/H/E and a few more things.
With what it would cost me to buy all of that, I could buy the Comptech s/c LOL.
Now I will be happy with a 250fwhp CL-S6 or 210fwhp RSX-S for daily.

Now I know a few things about boosting and I've seen people boost 4th gen maxima's, put down 315 to the front wheels at like 8 pounds, yet they still run 14's...WTF? Now To get a CL-S into the 300fwhp range so it has serious balls, what would you need to do? I'd perfer all motor for reliability
well with type-s your already at 260.....all you probably need is i/h/e.....change some pulleys....better cams.....(not really the right guy to ask...going from my 130 post experience) and that should add 40hp to your car....some guys do a lot more and get supercharges or turbo out their cl's....but i cant really tell you how to do it all motor tho....there are ways tho...

Friend has a RSXs and i have the 03 CLS6, and he cries whenever he gets back into his car from getting out of mine. Its not that he doesnt like his, but once tasting the type of power you get from the CLS6, he cant go back.

You are correct on that one....but with 230 your already faster than a RSX-S....but like i said b4 the decision is do you want to zip around and thats it or have the ability to zip around and remain classy when your stopped....cuz RSX-S is a zippy looking car when moving and stopped.....CL-S...not quite...
Never drove the RSX-s. Never will. I have no desire too. IMO there is no comparison between the RSX and the CL-s. And I'm talking about the automatic CL-s.
Since you're talking 6-speed, this is a wasted thread.

word to the last 10 or so posts. the rsx is a fun little car, but do u really wanna be a dime a dozen? ive seen, and i live in a small city, a couple hundred rsx's. and ive seen 4 CL-S's..much more hard to find and much classier. just as an overall package its much more comfortable, stylish, luxurious, and powerful..add I/H/E and supercharger..then its all over.

The RSX might have 170-180fwhp and the CL-S might have 230fwhp, BUT many things factor in
2003 CL Type S
260hp @ 6100 RPM
232tq @ 3500 RPM
MPG: 19/28
Wheelbase: 106.90"
Weight: 3446lbs
2003 RSX Type S
200hp @ 7400 RPM
142tq @ 6000 RPM
MPG: 24/31
Wheelbase: 101.20"
Weight: 2767lbs
Just a quick comparison. While the CL-S is going to have much more grunt and ridiculous torque compared to the RSX, it won't be able to rev as high safely (will it?) or get as good gas milage, but whoever is stuck in the back is gonna be crushed. It wont be as classy as the CL-S but as you said its not ment to be. And while the CL-S does have much more power, keep in mind the RSX-S is a good 650 pounds lighter, thats alot of weight. I guess the final showdown will be the test drive come september, but as far as It looks now, the CL-S is in the lead.

Catback-$1100
Test pipe if needed-$50-70
Supercharger-$4,500
Icebox-$280
So for roughly $6,300 bucks I can make a CL-S be as quick as an RSX with 3,500 worth of mods....Weight makes the biggest difference lol.
I'm spending 16-18k on a car I'm not going to spend another 6,300 modding it. I want basic mods yes but why make a CL-S that fast? I have a 95 TSi AWD that I'm building up for that
hence the need for a nice reliable daily driver.
it seems like you're are just wanting to know which car is faster, i think you can give a F*ck about the cars themselves (no offense)... if you want a car to take to the track, and beat the balls out of it, get the Rsx, leave the Cls and the tls to someone that would appreciate everything about it, not just 0-60 and 1/4 mile times...

Let me break it down. S4, Evo, WRX, and MS Protege would be bad choices because they are easy to mod and make quick, and then something will break. M3 and M5 would be nice cars but again they are highly prone to having problems and downtime, and I can't afford downtime. RX-8 would be great, but at about 80,000 miles the apex seals are going to kick the can and I'm screwed. And finally the S2000 would be an awesome daily, but I live in Connecticut, RWD convertible + snow/rain/cold=bad. Out of all of those the last 3 on my list were the Lancer Ralliart which I would be able to get for 12k, and a 10yr 100k warranty, the RSX-S and CL-S6.
Now lets look at the 3:
Lancer Ralliart. Nice fun little car, comparable to the RSX-S but everyone either thinks its an Evo and wants to race it, or that its an OZ and wants to race it. That and the interior just feels to cheap for me.
CL Type S 6spd. IMO its a boat. 3500lbs, not as agile as the other 2, BUT it makes up for it with grunt (taking this from my experience with a TL-S). The CL-S6 also can possible have factory Navi, indash cd changer, heated seats, all the pimp juice stuff. It looks better then the Lancer Ralliart and the RSX in some aspects and yes, it is classy.
RSX Type S. Fun go kart like can. Love how it handled (only have experience with an RSX-P auto). Not as classy as CL-S, but much classier then alot of cars in its class, if not the classiest. Nicely equipped with leather, premium sound system, crappy tires, and a sunroof. Price wise the same as the CL-S but handles better out of the box.
Now the smart choice would be the Mitsu. Its pretty reliable stock, and it has an awesome warranty, but I don't want to drive around in a mitsu, I want to drive around with class, while having some pep. The RSX-S is class, I remember an article in I believe Car and Driver: SRT-4 vs. RSX-S vs. SE-R Spec V vs. Tiburon GTV6 etc. The RSX-S came out second to the SRT-4 in performance, but they still chose the RSX as the winner because of all the amenities it came with compared to the Neon. So now I'm down to the CL-S6 and the RSX-S which is where I am stuck now. I don't care how fast they go in a straight line or around turns, that is what my 400hp Talon is going to be for, I care about daily comfort, pimp juice status and possibly, having fun on mountain roads and autocross. On Canadian Driver one guy reviewed the CL-S6 on mountain roads, he said the car was a blast, only downside was the sorry excuse for tires, friggin michlien. Don't tell me I care about how fast a car goes because that is not my intention or concern. Yes I am going to do a few bolt ons, because who is going to keep their CL or RSX stock? If I wanted power, I'd drop 21k on a used and abused Evo 8, or an SRT-4 and boost the everliving hell out of it.
For the record, the CL-S6 is faster. Taking that information from the many RSX owners that have raced against TL-S's stock for stock and gotten beaten. Now a slightly lighter car with a 6spd manual would make an even bigger gap between the two. My whole point of this thread is will the CL-S6, while being a nice classy blah blah blah, be as FUN to drive every single day as an RSX would.
don't think about the mods so much, but if you are going to keep the car for a while think about the image it will project.
I know a lot of you might not think that matters, and if you read my shit in ramblings you would think the same, but in this world you have to project a proper image to get places.
A factor in choosing the CL was that I would be in better standing as a young individual entering the corporate world. Why? Just because. Part is marketing that Honda wanted. Plus the CL will probably give you better chances of getting your dick sucked than the RSX.

hahahaha. Ehh I think the Talon can take care of that :tongue. Now I totally agree with you in the sense that you need to project a good image, but in most cases employers don't know a damn thing about cars. They see "A" on your grill and say "Oh you drive an Acura? Nice." so CL-S and RSX to them are the same, both say you are in a good financial situation and you know how to run your chit. Oh and Lexus>Acura,Infiniti, etc. for getting laid lol.

Indeed the CLS is a giant car, but when your crusing on the HW and you decide that you need to spank some little punk, well, the boat now becomes super agile when you decide to drop it down to 3rd/4th and weeve into position. Its quite amazing on how the car grips the road when you decide to push it. For me this is with stock stuff. As for the the RSX, its definately a little dart... If you havent already, go test drive the CLS6 and give it a good going. The biggest draw back with the CLS6, is the fuel. With todays prices you definately see the hit.

i raced my buddy in his 06 rsx-s from 3rd the other day. both stock with coilovers and intake. i took him by a car and a half.
CL-S-6 has it all. sport, luxury, status, reliability, and the fun of a manual transmission.

This is a CL forum, if it's not about a CL and it's about cars, it belongs in car talk...
https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/
Feel free to repost in the cartalk forum...
To me, the RSX seems like so much less then the CL... If the price is about the same it's a no brainer to buy a CL 6spd...
I haven't driven a RSX typeS since 2002, but I did drive a RSX base auto a few weeks ago as a loaner
If you want rice, then RSX...
If you want nice, then CLS 6spd...

, the thing that sucks though is I'm trying to find a Cert. Preowned to buy so I can keep them stock, and keep that sweet warranty, now heres the sucky part. 2,700 CL-S6's, how many are for sale? How many are for sale in CT? How many are Cert. Pre owned? all compared to RSX-S's which they made a ton of.
Dude, everytime someone here tries to tell you to go with the CL you argue their point and hype up the RSX. In this forum you're pretty much gonna get told to go with the CL-S. You posted this in a CL forum, so what do you expect? You want a car you can autocross, and that handles well...the CL isn't the car for you. My suggestion is that if you want comfort, with some good go power, then go with the CL (even though it doesn't seem like that's what you want). If you want a qucik car that handles well, but doesn't necessarily have the refinement of the CL-S, then get the RSX. It's obvious you're gonna end up going with the RSX. I think if you post this up in clubRSX you'll get the response you want.
