we were at a light we take off normal then i deside to get on it he does nothing . we get to the next light and he says its not worth it he smoked a cls the other day , i was about to say NOT WORTH IT then he said i had a nice car so i let him go for saying that lol lol..... but come on he would of won but there a 14.00 car stock and he says he was stock ,,, my best is a 14.4 he would of beat me but not killed me .. so thats my run in with the C4

C4 Vette's run mid to low 13's at around 102-105mph. You would have gotten steadily pulled.

i had one try to get around me on the freeway last night and he couldn't pull on me at all. i bet he was a little surprised.

 

^^^ You're right. My brother had a 95 C4 auto, he never ran the quarter mile but he ran 0-60 in 5.4, which would make a 14 second quarter mile just about right. Of course he was using one of those G-tech things so i don't know how reliable that number is.

It depends which year C4 and what tarnsmission/options. The early C4's (84 - 91, I beleive) had the L98 engine which made good torque, about 340 lb.ft, ran out of breath early making only about 240 HP. These were mid to low 14 second cars and probably slower today is not well taken care of.

The later (92 - 96) C4's had the LT1 engine which spun up better upping the HP to 300. These were easily mid 13 cars.

The easiest way I can tell the year is by looking at the rear. If it is curved in, when viewed from the side, it is an L98 car. The LT1 cars curved out. There is one exception, the ZR1 cruved out but was out in '89. You can also see the unique, but understated, badging and can run 12's.

 

Also in 96 some manual C4s came with the LT4 engine which had 330hp, so they are a little bit quicker then most other C4 vettes as well. The LT4 was standard in the Grand Sport and Collector's Edition vettes and i'm pretty sure it was an option (maybe standard) on any manual cars. The autos still got the 300hp LT1 though.

 

My bad, didnt take into account the TPI and Crossfire cars. They were low 14's on a perfect day. The LT1 C4's were 13 second cars consistantly.

 

I just had a run in with a '95 vette last week. We were on the interstate and I passed him, but he didin't seem to like that very much (his girl was in the car as well). So he proceeds to catch up to me. By this time I'm running right at 80 mph, and that's the sweet spot for my 5at, just push it to the floor, let it hit 3rd gear, and see what happens. So we take off from an 80 roll and he jumps out a car length immediately. Well then to my surprise i start reeling him in, and right at 110 mph I'm right beside him. We shut them down due to some traffic and then I got off at my exit. He didn't seem to happy, no thumbs up or anything. Oh well some people just hate. Oh btw, I have an '03 cls 5at with all comptech bolt ons, icebox, headers, and full catback exh.
