Rough Idle at stop, Help.

Hey everyone, well i'm having a problem with my 01 cl-s. Whenever i come to a stop, my car would idle rough. It idles at 200-500rpm. It would sometime feels as if it will stall then it would go back to 600-700rpm. Has anyone have this problem? I was thinking it might be something to do with the sensors on the intake. Any help would be thankful. thanks

Sounds like you need to clean your IACV

It is actually not a sensor, but a valve body (Idle Air Control Valve). I just removed the part and cleaned it with intake/carb cleaner. Has been fine ever since.

Oh Thanks, sorry to ask so many questions but is it easy to get too? Is it right by the throttle?

I remember the most time consuming part being getting to/removal of the throttle body (which still didn't take THAT much time). After that, there are just 2 bolts holding on the IACV.

Make sure you keep track of the gasket between the IACV and its mounting point. Mine fell off without me knowing, which made for some fun troubleshooting as to why the car was running so horribly bad and leaking coolant.

This thread has some pictures of the part itself:

It might not even be that, have you checked the EGR plate on top of the intake manifold?

It might be clogged mine had the same problem you had, but once i cleaned that the idle issue went away.

check egr (they get gummed up bad and can create all sorts of wonky problems) check IACV and if that don't work look at tps and then finally look at coils..
