Rotors: Reface or Upgrade?

Hey guys, I did some searching and can't really find the info I'm looking for. I have an 03 CL-S 6MT and the only performance mod I have is CAI. I noticed my rotors are pretty warped and I have to replace the brakes within the next few weeks. My question is, is it necessary to upgrade to slotted rotors from Rotora or just reface the stock ones I've got. Big $$ difference and I'm getting married in August, so I don't need frivolous expenses right now. However; Buy Cheap, Buy Twice are the words I live by, so somebody please help a newbie out, I'm lost!

Thanks in advance everybody!

congrats on the wedding. i would upgrade because the stock setup is garbage imo. i have the rotora bbk's and they were the best mod i've made on my 6mt. a fast car is worthless if you can't stop it. if not the bbk then at least an upgrade in rotors and pads.

You can probably get away with resurfacing the rotors for now, but you'll either have to replace them in the future when they warp again or have them resurfaced again if they are within spec. Question is, do you want to pay for new rotors now, or later.

Dealer cut my stock rotors @ 22.5K due to warping, and they have been fine since (58K miles now)...

What gaping46and2 said....Pay now or pay later. You WILL need new rotors at some point.

Much appreciated guys! Is BBK the whole braking system? I really can't afford 3k in brake upgrades right now. Am I wrong or can I get the front and rear rotors for ~$400? If so, I can swing that!

Yep, no need for the BBK unless your pockets can handle it.

Should be less than that for just rotors. More like $300-$320.

2 months ago, had dealer turn and put new pads on the front. They were pretty warped feeling bounce in the wheel, so I just had to get them done. Dealer special $169. I know the guy and I dont know if he was just hooking me up?????? (the cheap route)

I ended up ordering the Rotora Slotted Rotors from a local shop. I emailed Excelerate three days ago and never heard back (I think he's in the middle of a move). I really don't want to spend a lot for brake pads, but don't want to get cheap pads that end up f***ing up my new rotors. Any suggestions? Axxis? Hawks? Looking for middle of the road in price. Thanks!

You can find a complete set of Axxis ceramic brake pads on eBay for around $100, they will work great. Also could go with EBC Green/Red Stuff brake pads.

I've put 80k miles on my Rotora's and they have finally warped. I'll be replacing them soon with another set of the same.

I wouldn't recommend resurfacing them. The stock rotors are prone to warpage. When you resurface them they are turned or cut. They take off some more material. This in turn leads to less heat dissipation b/c there is less material to absorb and dissipate the heat. Therfore you are prone to more warpage.

Very true!

I contacted you a few months ago about Rotoras and pads. I've put it off too long. I'll contact you in the next few days with a new order.

Do you have SS lines in stock?
