which rotors & pads

Hi,

I've been doing a lot of searches on rotors and pads on this forum, and there are different opinions.
I am looking for rotors that don't wrap for a long-long time. I am not looking for anything performance related, I just want something that does not wrap like OEM rotors.

I was thinking of getting Brembo drilled rotors with Akebono pads.

Brembo does not produce a drilled or slotted rotor for second gen CL's. What you are seeing are Brembo OE replacement rotors drilled by someone else.

Yeah, I heard that Brembo is drilled by someone else. Is that a bad thing?
Like I said before, I am not looking for performance and etc. I just want something that does not wrap too quickly like OEM rotors.
Is it possible to get Rotora drilled, BUT not slotted?? How much they go for?
What about OEM rotors and Akebano pads, I heard these pads supposed to be easy to rotors ??
Thanks.

ppl say that rotors that are cross-drilled by a third party have the possibility of cracking under hard braking. with that being said, ppl on the board with drilled brembos seem to be doing pretty well. you can get drilled rotoras with the big brake kit.

i am getting some slotted rotors from excelerates group buy, they are a great deal.

What is the problem with OEM rotors getting wraped? Is that caused by OEM pads, rotors, or both?
I heard Akebano pads are really good (they even cost more than OEM). Perhaps better pads will slow down wraping process??

Does Rotora make drilled rotors, BUT not slotted ?

I just put on powerslot slotted rotors w/ hawk ceramic pads about 3 weeks ago. no complaints at all. they are quiet and dont generate as much brake dust as the oem pads

I've done some checking myself and have looked at Rotoras, Brembos. Powerslot, HPs and a few others and have narrowed my choice down to these.

Let me know what you think.

I heard that slotted rotors will wear out pads quicker. Its all good for performance and stuff, but I am look for longetivity.

Based on this web site, I came to conclusion that for regular driving its better to have drilled rotors only (not sloted).
Any one knows where you can get drilled only? It seems that they all come drilled & slotted.

Actually, I called them to clarify and they said they recommended slotted over everything else . . . unless you don't care for the extra stopping power . . . call them if you have any questions.

Based on my checking several, these and the HPs were the ones I was leaning towards.

Both do not use OE/std blanks. Both use highend metal as their rotors have normally been used within the racing ciruits. The only think better is 2 piece rotors and such . . . but are not available for our cars . . . at least that I found . . and they are high dollar from what I saw.

These are not the cheapest, but seem like very good stuff.

I've got Josh from Excellerate checking into a group buy for these . . . which would help us get the pads, lines, fluid and anything else from these folk for a discount.

Stay tuned.

Well, I just ordered Front Brembo Blanks ($57 each) and front Akebano brake pads ($52) from tirerack.com. I am sure this will be better & cheaper set up than stock.
Too bad tirerack does not sell rear Brembo rotors...
