Rock chips & RUST!!!

Ahhh!!! Just checked my mom CRV's today and found 3 rock chips! One of them is down to the metal and is already rusted!

For the rusted chip, can I just put touch paint over it or do I have to get the rust out?

You’ve got to get that rust out, or at least MOST of it if possible.
Depending how big the chip is, use a pin, nail or small screwdriver to “scrape” off the rust and any loose edges of paint.

You shoud get all of the rust out if possible, before you use the touch up paint. You may want to even scrap a little bit of the paint around the chip, just be sure you can get all of it out.

Check out PaintScratch.com for instructions.

You need to de-rust the surface before you paint. You'll have to (carefully) sand out the rust and then apply both a primer and paint if you want a real thorough job.

I know that Griot's also sells paint chip kit.

...check out this doohickey.
