rock chip down to the metal and now i have rust
went to the dealer and since rust is covered under warrenty i ask them if they could fix it. of course they say no because it's a rock chip. should this be covered? if not, what can i do to remove the rust without messing up any of the surrounding paint?

U can tape the surrounding area of the rust, sand that rust & touch up paint, or if U have lots of $, paint the hood....
Always touch up any rock chips before it gets to the rusting stages....

Easier said than done. In fact I have a couple on my hood and I guess they're just gonna have to rush - no touch up paint here and not about to repaint the whole hood. Besides touch-up paint always looks shitty. Kinda like rust. :-\

My friend's NSX has a rock chip to the metal on his hood 2 months ago, & I told to touch it up... He's one of those guy that will not touch up an NSX, well now he has a fawking ugly rust stain 1/2 inch on his hood
Too bad...
if you don't touch it up the rust will get under the paint and can eventually cause it to bubble. If you're too lazy to use touchup paint, at least spray some WD40 on it or something to prevet the rust

You do have some options. I went to an autobody shop and said 'fix my rock chip'. They did and said it was too small a job to charge for! Plus the fix was invisible.
I also made the mistake of letting Acura fix a rock chip. After 3/4 of an hr they said the paint wouldn't stick and actually made the hole bigger! This guy was said to be their paint chip expert - don't take it to Acura.
You could do this yourself. Get the rust out then drop a bubble of paint on it. Let sit for a day - if it there is still an indent add another drop. Now buy yourself one of those razor window scrappers. I had a 4" one. Put scotch tape over most of it but leave about 1/2" of razor - you don't want too much razor touching the car. Now lay it flat on your hood and razor the bubble off. A friend of mine suggestted topping it off with nail polish but I don't know how durable nail polish is.
