Road Lamp EXPLOSION!

Tonight i noticed that one of my road lamp bulbs went out, which pisses me off enough already because i had just put the PIAA 19224 bulbs in the beginning of july, but upon further inspection i saw that the bulb actually exploded inside the road lamp, and now there are shards of broken glass inside the housing!!

Could anyone give me advice on how to get the chunks of glass out of my road lamps, or tell me how this might have come to happen?

Thanks
Ryan

If there was a surge in the electrical system a bulb can definately burst. Too much power came from a focal point and too much power might have("spike") went to that particular bulb. <<<--Vary rare in new cars.

Or, the life of the bulb was done for and gases might of been leaking out. Going over a bump could have caused it to "explode." All in just a few seconds.

EDIT: IF you are interested in knowing what your voltage is and how many amps are pushing through your electrical system. Pick up a meter and test your system.

after market bulbs explode often. especialy the higher wattage and colored lights. I have seen it many times. if you touched you could have easily caused it to explode. dont ever touch the glass of a high power bulb. other than that I dont know

bulbs usually blow from contamination on the glass. even if u leave little fingerprints, oil from fingers will burn and cause stress on the glass and it usually blow after a while. do not ever touch glass when u install them. if u do clean with rubbing alcohol

it couldn't have been that; i took special precautions to make sure that i didn't get any oil from my fingerprints on the bulbs
i even stole a pair of first aid latex gloves from the lake that i work at to wear when i installed them lol

I've been using PIAA 19224's for years on my '01. No melting or blowing up problems. Maybe a defective bulb or got bumped around in shipping?

Personally, roadlamps>inserts
