rev limiter question

rev limiter question

can u do damage to engine bumping into the rev limiter too often?

My guess is no. I wonder if Acura is the only one who knows that question for sure. I'd like to think they set it low enough to prevent any engine damage.

I've bumped into the engine limiter on purpose -- when going fast, I have just 'tagged' it.

prolly best to avoid high revs until the car is warmed up (temp has come up and the oil is warm -- give a while)...

Car manufacturers intentionally limit revs to maybe a few hundred to a thousand revs below the real limit...this avoids costly repair to overrevved motors.
