Resurfaced Rims!!!!!!!!!!

What started as being a 15K maintainance check up...ended up involving ding popping and rim resurfacing.

I went to Mike Harvey Acura...excellent service by the way

and had them call people to come in and pop a few dings out and get all 4 of my rims re-surfaced

i don't have a before pict. but if you can imagine our rims with 5 scratched spokes...

and this is what it looks like now...BRAND SPANKIN NEW!!!!!!!!

$$$

sup sup.

the re-surfacing set me back 200 flat...the dude cut me a deal since i was getting all 4 done at the same time...i think he usually charges more for smaller numbers...

and he got the job done within 2 hours which i thought was awsome...the clear coat is still drying but i'll be good to go tomorrow

as for the dings...i pointed out about 7 dings and he told me 350+

i didn't have the funds to do so....so i got the 2 dings that stood out the most for 170. i feel like a paid a little too much but the results were very very good...couldn't even figure out where the dings used to be.

if you need contact information plz pm me.

170 is good for two dings.

they should be between 80-100 a piece.

I wish someone would sell a 'rim touch up kit.'

It can't be hard to do. A little filling, sanding, and clear coat. Probably easier to repair than paint chips.

suttle re-surfacing kits available...

the guy who re-surfaced my rims told me that he used a rubbing compound for one of the rims since the damage was very little.

i believe he mentioned it was a "mother's" product and explained that it would take out most scratches that are not too deep.

also, a clear coat spray that comes with the kit to finish off the wheels.

Those look good!!! I'm getting all four of mine done. I'm not paying for it since the damn tire place scratched them The guy who is doing mine is charging $70 per rim. I hope they turn out good.

Looks nice. I asked a tire/wheel place to do the same and they said it couldn't be done because of the fine brushed lines. That was a year ago and I just never bothered to go to another shop. Guess I need to go to another place. I hate my wheels right now.

Did he apply any paint(besides the clear coat) after he took out the scratches? I talked to a guy who said he applies a paint that matches the rims and you can't tell that it's painted but he wanted me to know that before I went through with it. Anyone know about this method?

Hey, I have a couple of questions...

Do you ever go to Oakland Acura, if so what do you think? I went to the dealer in Los Altos and man did they suck. He busted my balls over the mods and stereo...which is a joke, since 2 feet away their parts dept sells all the comptech mods.

Also, how did the rims? I am debating getting new rims and tires, or getting my ugly ones fixed.

Thanks...Michael

Hmmm the paint is chipping off part of my front left rim - I bet that's not covered under warranty, is it? I have 30k on my car.

re-surfacing process...

the guy who did my rims is mobile...has a compresser in the back of his van and carries his tools with him. he can basically go where ever the job needs to be done in the bay area.

he has close ties with "mike harvey acura" and the porsche dealership across the street, for those who live in the area

he warned me that i would not have the same machine finish on the parts that were re-surfaced....but given the conditions of my rims...i told him to go ahead.

i don't think he used a paint, although i thought he did at first...just a solid clear coat finish.

i really can't tell that the rims were even damaged in the first place unless i take a really really close look.

the clear coat reflects in a way that the rims look brand new overall and blends in well with the original machine finish.

for 200.00 i think i def. got my moneys worth.

i actually paid 20.00 extra to get it done on the spot then and there

he's comming back tomorrow to even out the clear coat on one of the rims.

let me know if can help...
