Removing tint.

Hi guys,

I need some quick help with removing the tint off of my front windows. I got a ticket 2 months ago and have been seriously procrastinating on taking it off. It needs to be done by tomorrow, and I don't want to have to pay someone to do it, especially since I'm going to have to pay to have it put back on.

Does it just peel off? Can i just use a razor to get it started? Any other advice would be helpful.

I tried searching, but if someone remembers a good thread about it please let it be heard.

You can just scrape it off with a razor blade but I think there is also a chemical you can spray on it too. I have no clue where to get this chemical but I think you spray it on, let it sit for awhile and then it will peel off. Honestly though, if you have a razor blade, some steel wool and some windex, use it cause by the time you get back from the store looking for that chemical you'll be halfway done. Use the steel wool and windex to help scrub off the glue. My

u get some windex or glass cleaner in a spray bottle and spray at the corners of the glass. or start from the far left corner of the glass where ur door opens and take a razor and just cut along the line so u can peel it off. as ur peeling spray the glass cleaner and get yourself a spray bottle with water and repeatedly spray as your taking the tints off. wipe with a paper towel as u spray and clean. after removing all the tint spray and wipe with water to dissolve the glue. let it dry and repeat the process w/ glass cleaner

DO not use a razor blade on the side windows... you will put tiny scratches in the glass....

the front windshield you can use a blade...

I've been wondering if this is even possible.

I had one company do it on my last car, the defroster never worked again after that. So now I'm afraid to have anyone do it for my CL.

I used to do this all the time for a dealer I worked for. If you're smart about it you won't scratch the windows.

What about the rear window, did you do that for your dealer?

The rear window How to was stated above. Someone posted a link with exactly how to do it. I'll be doing this myself soon and will be following those very directions. I've looked on a lotta sites and all have it done by the same manner. Ammonia, Tarp, Plastic bag and a hot sun will do it.

I'll let you guys know how it works out.

No way! I would never touch a rear window. I would not be held liable for having to replace one due to screwing up a defroster. As I stated in my first post though there is a chemical for it. If we ever had to remove tint from a back window I took the car to a tint shop and they had the chemical. They would spray this stuff on, let it sit for a few hours in the sun and it would peel right off more/less. It was pretty cool stuff, couldn't tell you what it was called but I know someone makes it. Try doing a Google search for it.
