Removing Resonator

Okay.. I guess I am a little confused on this process. I hear everyone saying that it only costs about $30-40 to delete the resonator from the exhaust. But my question is... what goes in place of the resonator? A straight pipe? And I would have to go to a shop to have this done so I don't know how it would cost $30-40.

Thanks for the noob advice

yea its just a straight pipe. but some people like it and others say it doesnt sound all that good.
but many have has success with replacing the stock resonator with a magnaflow resonator instead of that straight pipe.

Yea im looking for more sound. I think im going to just take the resonator out. What's the best way to go about this? Take it to a shop and tell them to replace it with a straight pipe? How big should the pipe be? Or is there a way I can do it myself?

Thanks for the help.
