remote starter only

Hey guys I have a 2003 cl-s m/t. I want to add a remote starter only and keep my factory alarm. Is this possible? I just want to start the car when it’s cold. I don’t need extra security. Any ideas? Oh yea I live in NY so if anyone knows a good place to go please let me know. And yes I searched. I couldn’t really find anything on just remote starters. Thanks.

You can get remote starters that work with manual transmissions. It will verify the car is in neutral before attempting to start the car. You can usually bypass that check on normal car alarms but most shops will not do that part for you (but will show you how to do it yourself) as it's an insurance liability for them.

Keep in mind that with a remote starter you will have to get a copy of your key (or an uncut one with the transmitter programmed by the dealer) and put it up in the dash or somewhere to disable the factory key code system. That's a layer of security you lose by having a remote starter.

The added measures that legal stick remote start systems have are a PITA. Not worth it.
Like e brake on & car not in gear. Try that on a steep hill or driveway. The 6MT parking brake sucks as is.

Sure, so just use it when you're on a flat surface.
