Cliford makes one for MT cars. It has a failsafe that if the car is in gear it will not start. It will only start if the car is in N & the parking brake is on. You will need a transponder bypass or a programed key.

Most places won't sell/install kits in manual transmission cars. Personally, i wouldn't put one in my CL-S 6speed because my e-brake sucks. The driveway I park in (my parents' house) is pretty steep and no matter what i do, the e-brake barely holds the car. There are ways to do it, however, but i'm not sure about doing it in a CL-S6. A friend of mine wired his (in his Ford Escort 5-speed) and it worked, but i know there was some sort of trick to getting it to work, not to mention he had to do it himself. I know he had it hooked up with his alarm, but i forget what all he had to do to get it to work properly. IMO, it's not worth it, but it is possible. I'll call him later and see what alarm/starter he had though

There's a diference is buying one off the shelf & making it work, & buying one that is meant to be used on MT's. Any shop will install one that is designed to work with a MT & has the safeguards.

Only ones that are rigged are as far as I know. Again one that's designed for MT's should have no problems, & aren't illegal.

I heard the remote starters can potentially do damage to the car (starter or ignition?)

Not if hooked up right. I've had cars with them, & they come OEM on many GM cars.
