I'm not sure which wire. I think it's the red/blue.
I would imagine you can try 1 then the other.

Is it possible to have the remote start without changing the factory security system?

Sure it's possible, but you would have to unlock the car first, then remote start, then relock the car. This way the factory alarm disarms before you start the car and then rearms after you lock the car. It's not that hard, its just an inconvience, thats all.

You don't need to disable the factory alarm. My Compustar Pro works excellently along with the factory alarm. Starts without unlocking the doors at all and disables the factory alarm when supposed to.

A guy named nismo explains how it's supposed to be done.

As I said the CL is not a normal car.
I did see that thread a long time ago. He just gives general knowledge. Not car specific.

Fuzzy is correct. The CL can not use a remote starters disarm wire. I've tried it already. I've connected it to the disarm wire in the door and it doesn't work. The only way to get around it is to disarm the factory alarm completely by grounding it out.

for the remote start, dont you need to have an EXTRA key in the dash? this is what I was told when inquiring about a remote start (since the car wont start without the factory key in proximity).

You can use a keyless bypass that programs the key's code to the bypass. This way you don't have to give up a key for it. DEI makes it. Costs about $50 or so at stores.

The guy in the other forum suggested the Compustar 1WAM-S. Has anyone had experience with that one?

Again, it's working perfectly for me and both alarms arm and disarm together and factory is disarmed when the car is remote started. I'm pretty sure you did something wrong when you tried it. No offence of course I believe Nismo is a pro installer and knows what he's talking about because that's how I got mine working. On the other hand maybe it has to do with the kind of alarm you're using and it's not able to do it.

Belcom,

Do your doors unlock when you remote start your car?

Ok, interesting. Maybe the factory alarm disarm wire is different on the Compustar. I have a DEI product and I'm certain it doesn't work. I've talked to two different local shops and they both have had the same problems installing remote starters on TL's and CL's. Neither shop sold Compustar though.

Maybe, Not a whole of installers down by me for compustar. I'll have to ask around.
That's great if it works like it should.

Dudes, I just spoke to my installer and he said the Blue wire connects (tap into it) to the Orange/White on the Compustar brain which allows boths alarms to work together in sync without any issues. Now I'm not sure about other products like DEI or what not but it certainly works fine with Compustar Pro.

You can look up the diagram for compustar somewhere and find out exactly what the Orange/White wires does as I don't have time to do this right now.

At first I had all these issues when it was installed, doors had to be unlocked for about 10-12 seconds when the car was remote started. Then I asked the guy to reprogram it so it does not unlock and then the factory alarm was going off when remote started. I actually really did not like how it worked out and searched net found the thread where Nismo explained the issue went back to my installer and poof, problems resolved. the only reason he did not know the first time is because it was the first CL he did.

Are you sure the installer you went back to didn't ground it out? Cause your before problems are exactly what happens with the CL.

Or maybe he did something else differently on your car & he didn't tell you exactly what?

It sounds like any normal factory disarm wire to me.

Well, I looked up the compustar remote starts and the orange and white wire is the factory disarm wire which sends a 200mA pulse through the wire. This works exactly the same as the DEI factory disarm wire. Its impossible for the 200mA pulse from the compustar remote starter to disarm the factory alarm while the DEI can not. Both systems only pulse the system using a 200mA current. Current is current so there is no difference. Unfortunately the CL and TL can not just have a 200mA pulse to disarm the factory alarm. So, belcom, I am almost positive your installer must of done something different. Are you sure that he didn't add a relay in the system and used the orange and white wire to switch the relay and then pulse the disarm wire with 12volts. I tried this and it didn't work for me but it's a possibility that I did it wrong because I didn't spend much time doing it.

Manual

Just to let everyone with manuals know...
On my compustar that i had installed on my integra (manual), have yet to put it on my 6spd CL. You would have to go through steps to put it into a mode so you can remote start it. Put your foot on the brake then put on the ebrake, take off foot brake pull the key out. The car will stay running when you pull the key out when you get out of the car and shut the door the car will shut off. This way you can't leave it in gear. Other companys might do the same thing .

Not mine, just works with the press of a button. I did have to do those steps on my SHO though when I had autostart installed and it was a 5spd.

ya I figured that other company's have gone to some type of safety for manual cars. I do those steps anyway so it never bothered me. plus if someone in the family had to move my car I never had to worry did they leave it in gear.
