Honda Announces Major Recall
Ignition Problems Blamed
POSTED: 4:30 p.m. EDT August 2, 2002
UPDATED: 8:31 a.m. EDT August 4, 2002
Two car companies have announced recalls and the biggest is from Honda.
The company announced it is recalling 1 million cars because of problems with the ignition. Reports say that the ignition may cause the cars to suddenly stall without warning and that that could increase the chance of a crash.
There are several different models and years included. The 1997 through 1999 Honda Prelude, Accord, Odyssey, CR-V and the Acura CL are the cars affected.

The 1998 - 2000 Honda Civics are also affected, along with the 1999 Acura TL.
Honda is notifying owners about the recall. If you are not sure that your car is included in the recall, contact your dealer.
Hyundai is also recalling the 2002 Sonata.
Company officials said that the side impact airbag sensors might be too sensitive. They are supposed to deploy if you're hit on the side, but they may actually deploy from things like slamming the door shut.
Hyundai is notifying owners, but call your dealer if you have any questions.

I though this was old news, like last spring. In fact, I found the recall notice on ahmownerlink:
TORRANCE, Calif., May 23, 2002 -- American Honda Motor Co., Inc. today announced a voluntary recall of certain Honda and Acura models to replace an ignition switch which may cause the engine to stall. The recall involves about 1.3 million of certain 1997 to 2000 models of the Honda Accord, Civic, Prelude, CR-V and Odyssey. Also included in the recall are some 1999 Acura TL sedans and certain 1997 to 1999 CL coupes...
Dated in May. Doesn't affect 2nd gen CL's (from what I gather).

Well, you probably shouldn't have told him that since it only affects the 1st Gen CL's ('97-'99) and the '99 TL as far as CL's and TL's go..... however, you could still give him that finger for not knowing that information the first place....

If it effects our car, we will get a notice from Acura. If you haven't gotten it, then it doesn't effect your car. No sense asking a dealer.

Just log into www.ahmownerlink.com (you did set it up, didn't you?) and it will tell you about the ignition recall and if your car is on the list.

You need to enter in your VIN to get recall information. I cut and pasted my previous post from ahmownerlink.
