Got my CL-S on the 5th of Feb. I love it, but the rattles are killing me everyday. There are rattle noises from passenger seat and some where near or in my glove box. I am so exhausted from finding those two rattle spots.......

and u dint hear them during the test drive? its seems too soon for rattles, somthin must have been wrong from the start

 

you think it's bad now, just give it 10k more miles. mine turned into a rattle monster from hell at around 11k miles so you're a bit ahead of schedule. good thing the car has a pretty decent stock stereo.

 

You are trying to scare me right? I only have 500miles on the car. I spent $33k on a rattle monster???

 

I test drove a different CL-S and then order this one from Acura factory cuz I didn't like the one they had in the lot.

 

Join the family. Just crank up the radio and enjoy ! We're not kidding you ! It happens to run in the honda product line !

 

I feel your pain. I have been having the most annoying rattle from the passenger side door ( I think) for the longest time. It drives me crazy. Also the sunroof rattles too. It's getting worse! Not a thing you can do though, except turn the radio up!

 

you must be nuts, to buy a car that u have not test drivem...the one u drove was probly nice, but the one u got unfortunately rattled like a biatch and u had to find out the hard way...sorry to hear...

BTW, not all of them rattle to the extent that everyone is describing, ive got bout 7k on my 03 with coilovers, 19s, and sways, and strut bar/.....and i dont hear shit!! its amazing (knock on wood)....with all those mods, im surprise my shit isnt falling apart already...the 03s are suppossed to be quieter...more insulation n shit i guess

 

I hope this makes you feel better. The Infiniti G35C has alot of rattling noise coming from the entire dash console. My friend owns one and is going crazy. Look at it this way its not a really bad rattle atleast your interior is not completely plastic like the G35. Imagine that after 11K. lol!!

I already feel better since I am not the only one..... My 2001 rattles more and more, and new places add. I had rear dash fixed by the dealer, and more or less fixed my front dash with the eraser.... but now its just getting out of control, something clicks/ticks on every small bump in my passenger side window area( the one on the back seat ). I am going nuts I can't even pin point the sound, its fuked up!!! I tried sticking paper and trying to support the pillar, nothing helps.... it aggrevates me.... I dont know why, but can't get over it... I am trying....

Going to the dealer? No way, I am already upset.... Hearing "could not reproduce" will make me even more upset. Unless you can pin point the exact location where the sound is coming from, don't even bother....

I never knew Acura rattles that much.... that's how they save money, puting cheap stuff.... Have you ever looked at your ceiling ( in the back close to rear window ). Its made from some crappy cardboard box.... fuking cheap POS materials...

 

I've got an '01 CLS. Only rattle was actually the sunroof. It squeaked like a 1984 vette withT-tops over bumps and road irregularities. The dealer told me there was a tech. bulletin on the fix for the "sunroof pan". Hasn't rattled since and I've got 25k on it. The fix was some tape/insulation tape. I can't see it and they didn't have to take out the sunroof. The recent CLS long term Road and Track test mentioned the same rattle in their test but didn't mention the fix. It was one of their few gripes. Has anyone else heard of the "sunroof pan" fix or was the service rep messin with me!

I've located two rattles on my CL-S. The plastic cover on the right front pillar where it meets the very front/bottom of the windshield and dash is loose (it's the rounded looking part, i'll post a labeled pic if you guys want). The other is in the passenger side window. If it's up all the way it rattles. If it's down a TINY, TINY bit, it doens't.

Of course there are tons more that i can't find...

I've got close to 9000 miles on my CL-S and not one rattle. You don't put any coins in the suedo ash tray do you?

 

Someone said Hondas are known for rattles? I've owned 2 Preludes and 2 Legends and they didn't rattle. My Legend feels solid and no rattles and it's 7 years old. I'd be pist if I spent $30k on a car that rattles. But then again, all my Hondas were built in Japan :-)
Come on Honda, get back to high quality no matter the cost!

 

I've got an '02 that turns 1 on the Feb 22nd and no rattles. Take it into the dealer...

How long did it take you to get it fromm the factory?. I was quoted 2 months for a 6sp with NAV from my dealer this weekend.

My 2001 CLS I traded in for my 2003 CLS 6sp had 31k on it. It had a couple of minor rattles that were intermittent. One was around the steering column and dash that would make a ticking sound when driving on an uneven and/or bumpy road - but not all the time. The other was the headliner where it meets the rear window with sticky back tape.

However, my 2003 CLS 6sp with only 1200 miles on it is showing signs that it's going to become a rattle monster. Let's see...

1) Driver's door squeaks - probably fixable with an adjustment
2) Sun roof squeaks - depending on the outside temp
3) Dash rattles in several places. Haven't located exactly were the rattles are cause they seem to be moving around - strange.

And then there's that damn clutch and revs when shifting ... but that's a discussion for another thread.

Needless to say, I'm going to have a shopping list of things to fix when I bring the car into the dealer for the first service.

um..the Cl's interior is made completely of plastic. In fact, every new car in that price range is made of plastic...I'm just curious, what did you think your interior was made of (and i'm not talking about the leather seats)?

 

33k cars shouldn't rattle, period. Our '01 PDG CL-S developed only one on the rear deck/trunk, but it was easily fixed by dealer. The bracket (sits on the underside of rear deck) for the tension bars on trunk came loose....weld wasn't very good. Dealer drilled 2 holes and screwed it on and nothing since. We have 30k miles on ours. I'll sell a car before I put up with rattles, squeaks and groans.... Do you think it's because our cars are made in Ohio??????

 

Guys, i here huge rattles, but quite honestly, its only in freezing wheather. once the warm weather gets to the northern east coast, its back to smooth sailing. until i put the 18" wheels back on, lol.

 

My right door panel rattled.Found loose screw at the grab area and panel retainer at front lower corner rattling.

 

ive also noticed that my CL-S rattles like a MOTHERFUCKER in the winter time...last summer i had a few rattles (sunroof, rear deck, passanger side under dashboard, driver door, etc) but all were fixed by me or the dealer) now the rear deck and the back seat and the passanger door are making SO MUCH noise it makes me sick, but hopefully most will be gone once it gets back up above freezing temps and spring comes around. all you guys that claim to have no rattles, i dunno if i can beleive that, i think every CL-S is prone to the same shit.....if you dont have rattles, you just arent listening hard enough....they are there.....01, 02, 03...doesnt matter, and if they havent started yet, just wait, they will start. the 02 and 03 have more sound dampening material but it doesnt really help all that much, my 02 rattles as much as an 01....

after 1 year of ownership (on feb 28) the biggest complaint i have is HANDS DOWN the rattles....its really inexcusable.... i had zero rattles in my 97 blazer, 96 camaro, 91 buick lesabre....fuckin A, i think my 1973 mustang had less rattles than this thing!!!

 

I'd believe you on all cars but one. Mostly because they are rolling sofas. Your 96 camaro. Those f-bodies rattle like a mother! I have a freind with a 98 ws-6 and that thing rattles way more than my CL ever did.

 

hahahah, i know where your coming from but i honestly cannot tell you that the 96 camaro rattled anywhere NEAR as much as every CL-S ive ever riden in.

i had one and got it fixed....it would only happen when i got real cold. I have 30K miles now. Sometimes when it is REAL cold i might get one or two breifly...but it is freezing outside. During the summer....nothin!!! ...including the one i got fixed (before i got it fixed)


Bottom Line take it to the dealer and get it fixed. Mine kept mine for a week to make sure everything was perfect!!!! And they put less then 7 miles on it so i knew they weren't fuckin around!

the cold will contract all the parts and make em looser, whereas the heat will make everything expand...thats y u experience more rattles first thing in the morning, or late at night when the car has been sittin outside for a while

 

Dealer will only fix obvious rattle that can be easily reproduced. Otherwise you will get frustrated when service rep will tell you: "Sir, unfortunately we could not hear this noise... if it comes back let us know".
I have clicking sound in the rear passenger side window.... somewhere in the pillar or plastic pannel bellow the window.... it only clicks on bumps.... its not too loud, and it more like a 'tick-tick'.... deaership will think that I am crazzy!
What needs to happen is a complete re-assembly of all that plastic .... but who is willing to do it?
just get over it... cause other rattles will appear in other places and warranty will expire anyway..... so just forget it, drive it for 3-4 years and get a new car....

 

I'm going to check out the rear deck fix...sounds like it may work for me. Anything to do with power tools, drilling etc has got to fun.

No CL rattles as much as my 90 Supra...I can't count the rattles on two hands. Engine rattles, interior, exterior, antenna, tires even...everything.

 

My '98 TL-P (built in Japan) was rattle-free, and just about perfect for the 3 years and 60k I had it.

 

y the fuck are the cars built in ohio

 

Maxima SE 00-03 (build in Japan ) also rattles, but there seems to be less rattles....
My oppionon is that it has nothing to do with US or Japan built, the fukers are just building cars cheap by saving up on materials.... all the focus is towars features and horsepower.... nobody gives a sh*t how well things are put together... this is sad.... I hope 50K cars got better build....
