Rattle and I'm mad
I get this annoying rattle at 80mph and above. The thing is the Acura dealership here won't fix it because they can't reproduce it. I understand that they wont reproduce speeds that high so I told them that I would reproduce it for them and they said that they wouldn't ride with me going that fast because it was against the law. They then said that they could get an Acura Rep to ride with me to reproduce the rattle when he is in town the next time so I said OK. They then call me and tell me that he said that I have to put my stock rims back on before riding with me to reproduce the rattle. So I am like WTF? It is going to cost too much money and take to much time for me to do that and I know good and damn well the rattle has nothing to do with my rims. It is an interior that I can't damn figure out. Here in Texas we have 70 mph speed limits on the highways between cities, so I usually cruise at 80 worry free with this annoying rattle for 1-2 hours at a time. I don't think I will ever be able to get it fixed though

That's BS that they won't ride with you at 80 because it's against the law. The first Cl-s I test drove the salesman took it up to 110 on the highway, looked over at me and said "See how smooth it is at over 100?". If the salesmen do it the service people should do it too. I say take him for a test drive and tell him you will only do the speed limit and then push it right up to 80. What's he going to do? Get out?

You need someone to ride in the back for you to fix the rattle or locate it at least.

It sounds like it is coming from behind the glove compartment. It sounds like somebody is tapping a pen against plastic real fast.
O' and this is John Eagle Acura. I think I am like the only person that has problems with them.

Ok, I'm gonna ask a dumb question, please don't take it the wrong way but...
Have you removed everything from the glove box and the sunglass holder and driven it? It might be something simple.

I've got a rattle as well coming from somewhere behind the glove box. Haven't had anyone ride with me to isolate the location, but tried opening the box, holding the glove box to minimize vibration and still hear it. You're right, it's a slight tapping sound that just happens. But it doesn't have to 80 mph for me to hear it. It will happen in normal city driving, especially if there are bumps. Let me know what you find out too.

Strange... my glove box rattles like a mofo but opening the glove box door makes it go away. Im surprised that didn't work for you gsrblack.
bl^5, if you haven't tried opening the glove box door after the rattle starts try it... if the rattle goes away you know the source.

Yup, the first time I heard it I was driving from Austin to Houston so I had a good hour to figure out what the hell it was. I took everything out of the glove box, sunglass holder, and the side pockets on the door and still got the damn rattle.
And yes, I was doing all of this while crusing at 80mph

I have driven with the glove box open and it still rattles. I thought that it went away while I was holding it to keep it from rattling, but the sound is still there. But I didn't empty the box, but don't think that's the problem. Sounds more like it's somewhere behind it. Can't look back there while I'm driving or else I'll have more than the rattle to worry about!

Here's an unsubstantiated guess as to what it is. There are a LOT of wires running back in our dash...I bet money that one of them is tapping plastic. You'll get the same noise by your audio controls, as well as in your spoiler when you shut it, if the wires aren't secured.

p.s. - I have the same rattle...along with like 8 others...appt coming Monday...I can let you know.
