me and my kid were travelling down the highway and we thought we'd see how the cl would do.
at a 45 mph roll we punched it ,the matrix pulled a head by a full car length at 60 1.5, by 70 i had reeled him in. by 80 i had 1 car lenght ahead by 90 3 lenghts by 100 5 lenghts.

the matrix on second gear had a lot of snap and into third ,my kid said soon as he finished 3rd and placed it into 4th it was over.

will try to do from the line and a 30 mph roll.


these cars are a great sleeper i/h/e are coming for the matrix.

180 horseys they have the gts celica engine. i was surprised on the torque that thing had.
it got a look of its own diffinitly a young person car i'm sure older people will buy them to.
lots of head and leg room, great car for the price kid paid 25g's

 

I didn't think they could run like that either, I know our cars love a rolling start from about 50...

 

i'm going to try one from 50 and 55 and see if he pulls hard on me again.

I was surpised at the performance too. I was driving through the twisties and he tried to pass me after I passed another car. I actually had to get on it pretty good to hold him off. I don't know what tranny he had, but he seemed to be able to keep it in the powerband pretty well. The only problem with the motors is that they are very peaky with a narrow power band. If they are out of that band, they are pretty dog slow. Every short straightaway I would pull on him pretty good. He eventually faded back.

Thanks, I am starting with some basic mods this weekend. I'll be changing out the t-stat for a 180, gutting the stock airbox with a K&N panel. Next weekend I get my 3.4" blower pulley on and am going to the track again. I might have the infamous u-bend exhaust restriction taken out. I'm hoping for mid to low 14s.

I ran a 15.42 at LACR uncorrected, corrected it was 14.93 and I was completely stock with crappy 2.3x 60' times. It was my first time to the track with the car, so I'm hoping I have some driver skill improvement next time. If anyones interested, me and a bunch of GTP guys are meeting up at Famosa in Bakersfield on the 22nd, with a lot of the people staying for the 23rd as well(I'm not).

A guy in my office has a bone stock Matrix XRS. I heard they aren't going to make the XRS anymore though. Its pretty sweet. I like it because it doesn't look like every other sporty compact(well other than the Vibe). I wonder what they will do with the mods you've planned.
